patching casing, is it neccasary?
    #19235097 - 12/06/13 03:48 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

So i recently made a cube casing with 50/50, and some myc started poking up in like 3 spots before other spots so i patched it and put back into colonixation for a few more days.. i did some searching on past posts and  found alot of people saying its so you dont get overlay. Now we have all heard from RR and others that you dont need to worry about overlay with cubensis.. is it patched to make more even pin sets or is it unneccasary? I have four more trays going now with really rizomoprhic growth poking thru, do i need to patch it?

Bro, you should know the rules......

4.  Do not bump your own thread for at least 24 hours.  It's not fair to the other posters to have your thread constantly bumped to the top.  Violators will have their thread deleted.

IME the mycelium shows around the edges first I patch to give the middle a chance to catch up and have always had an incredible pinset doing this so I have never tried not patching...

:whathesaid:

Though I have tried it, my first few cased tubs gave me a whole flush around the edges before the center could catch up

I just patch it when I first fruit it.
