Does breaking mycelium up with blades work better than hand?

Does the reconstruction time of mycelium go off of volume broken off?
I theorize that freezing a cake, or cold shocking it, prior to breaking it up, will also reduce reconstruction time
at the very least, cooling it before slicing it to reduce surface volume
Or slice mycelium with razor wires

how do you expect to systematically slice up mycelia... you know... realistically.

the first thing that comes to mind is the same chord-slice wire, ~10 adjacent sharp wires you press down and through a boiled egg, gadget I've used for slicing eggs. Come to think of it, I might have gotten it from Spain
but an even better way I just thought of now would be to freeze the cake, and crushing it while its frigid; that would definitely reduce the surface volume, maybe better than using blades

It would definitely allow you to get a much finer powder from the it. Scientists will actually use liquid nitrogen when doing macerations of plant or animal tissue to extract DNA, and then they'll just pound it in a mortar or pestle.
Too bad freezing cubensis mycelium kills it.

what about 10 minutes of "freeze shocking" (or as many as you can get away with) before breaking it frigidly?

It's ill advised. Try boiling them to loosen up the grains, instead.
Just kidding. Please don't actually do that.

to OP: freezing would hurt the myc more then breaking it up by hand.
