Ive recently seen 10 of these on the internet are they the best stock for grafting 3 month old seedling? I will start off small and only do 2 but also with the extra bits i cut off can i put them in sand and let them root aswell?

Yeah Pereskiopsis is a very fast stock for seedlings. You can root the top part you cut off when making a graft, but very small cuttings take quite a while to reach a useful size. Sand would probably work but it wouldn't be my first choice. I just use regular potting soil, microwave sterilized to kill bugs. It's pretty light and airy and holds moisture for quite a while.

If they experience drought conditions for too long then the leaves will die and they won't come back. Not a huge deal but they seem do best when they stay hydrated IME.

I'd say it speeds them up by a factor of something like 3-4x for a period of time. You can't keep them on Pereskiosis forever though. For continued fast growth you can regraft to something like San Pedro. You can degraft and root but they don't always root readily.

You can get them to flowering size in a year or less on the grafts (one grower here had one flower at a few months old but I don't recall the exact age,) and on their own roots it's more like a few years. My oldest plants are 2.5 years from seed and the ungrafted ones still haven't flowered. The average size when they first flower is about an inch. The fastest time to flower I've heard for non-grafted plants was about 2 years.

These plants were all from the same seed batch, and the grafts were 5-10x the mass of the ungrafted ones.
