Can't tell if cobweb mould or mushroom mycelium (Updated with pics)
    #19230878 - 12/05/13 11:52 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

So I have these jars I made.
All inoculated via G2G on 11/11.
Here's a group shot, and then each jar individually.

Here's a closeup of the first uncolonised jar,

here's a closeup of the top of a random jar

The problem is, it looks all white and fluffy, like cobweb mould would.
I don't want to spawn these, (Some are at 100% already) if it's mould.

In comparison, here's a MS inoculated jar, also done on 11/11.

The spawn was WBS to Rye Berries, and the jars were a bit too full, which is why the first one isn't done, as i couldnt beark up the spaawn enough to evenly colonise it, and it's why the tops are clumpy. WBS is clumpy, and shite.

My G2G jars usually colonize in under 10 days max. Some only take 4-5 days depending on the colonized grain ratio.

Also, your pic didn't work.

Cobweb is grey and wispy. Will fill up a whole grain jar in a few days.

Can't confirm until pics though

whats with all the "cobweb" threads on grains, i thought it was a rare thing to see in anything other then casing layers:shrug:
i think it's bacteria

I see a few grains in that photo that look odd.  I agree that having all the other jars done, while having a jar show that....I Personally would toss the jar that is in photo #8.  There are at least a few "slimy" looking grains that are uncolonized...Toss it to be safe....

Im sure they are metabolites.

As i had the jars on a hot mat and it caused the mycelium to release metabolites everywhere.  I've since taken them off the mat, and they've recovered fine.

Jar #8 is not done colonising, but, can i still make a monotub with only 5 qquarts of spawn?

Alright, thanks-

I'll be waiting for more opinions anyhow,

I want to be sure. I'll probably end up tossing the jar anyways, or fruiting it seperately, but I shall wait and see.

That melted icecream look to the mycelium and the hard edge along with the greasy looking grains. . . yup that's bacterial.

No question that shit is nasty. See the whitish wet stuff around the grains in pic 8 that looks a bit like jizz? That's bacteria. Toss that shit.

Yeah no doubt that's bacteria developing on those uncolonized grains.
