I wanted to hang my logs but am aware that they need to be exposed so my idea around this is to take a small handfull of uncut(6-7 inch long)straw and tie it up with fishing line. This anchor so to speak will be put in the log when spawning it and such theoretically should be able to hang the log. Comments? ideas? Secondly I have not been able to find out what the optimum air incubation temperature for 5 gallon straw logs would be anyone. I've heard room temp. but have complete control over my area's temp and such want incubation to go as fast as possible.
If it's in a bag with holes it should work; it really doesn't care (or even notice) if it's hanging from the ceiling or on the floor. People say that the temp rises due to the mycelium creating heat so room temp (~75) should be fine. Best way to be sure is to stick a clean thermometer in it and keep it at 85, but no higher.
