Dude chill,You babies are fine. Most shrooms grow bulk when they first come up. Then over time they skinny out. Its just part of the growing faze. Peace Soulman

ok you left out alot of variables: what strain? what substrate? you probably do not have sufficent gas exchange/humidity.. how do you provide air? hmm high CO2 causes long and skinny / underdeveloped caps.

Maybe too much CO2, shrooms are trying to get above the CO2 layer and growing long and skinny, maybe???

like they said, I would fist suggest CO2 exchange, what do you mean by constant?

ok..i wrote PFMR (Psilocybe fanaticus matais romero). Humidity is at 90%. Constant gas exchange means fishtank air pump pumping fresh filtered air through wet perlite into the terrarium 24 hours a day. Substrate is standard PF tek substrate. Its cased in plain vermiculite. He has made a few casings the same way (verm. only) each producing fat fruits-In the same terrarium, same substrate, same strain, same gas ect ect. Its on a 12/12 light cycle. I know CO2 buildup has effects causing skinniness, otherwise i wouldnt ask this Q.

sounds like you got a reasonable answer already. With the care you're taking, the only reasonable estimate is that its normal. My friend says it happens to him. quote: Originally posted by Soulman420: Dude chill,You babies are fine. Most shrooms grow bulk when they first come up. Then over time they skinny out. It might be the heat. If it is really warm, the shrooms grow faster, and have less time to bulk out. Try lowering the temperature. They will grow slower, but denser.

Its 70 degrees..the only thing i can REALLY think of..and i feel really stupid about forgetting, is that My casing layer was too wet and the mycelium WOULD not colonize it, so i added some dry verm. on the top and then it started growing..i thought that if anything i would get fat-asses, but it may have actually drowned a lot of the mycelium and possibly making the fruits small. They are very skinny (1- 1+1/2 cm), and only about 4 inches tall.
