Is this caused from bacteria?

There appears to be a line going down the side of my jar that won't colonize. The rest of the jar has been done for about a week now. Is this due to bacteria or something? Should I birth or toss?

Thats what I've been thinking for like the last three weeks haha. its like theres a little invisible barrier. I'm pretty sure i've read on this before and that its caused from bacteria, im just looking for a confirmation or someone to tell me otherwise

If its been 3 weeks then go ahead and take it out. If it looks and smells fine, dunk and roll. It looks like there is mycelia growth in that patch, just not as strong.

Can't tell. I know some of my monos have growth that looks very weak. Similar to that.

I'd give it another week at least, usually it takes 3-4 weeks for them to fully colonize and another 5 days to consolidate, if you take it out to fruit it now, you'll probably get mold in the uncolonized portion..

Be sure to give it a good whiff before putting into fruiting to make sure it only smells like fresh mushrooms. The 'white' parts of that jar don't look too good. RR

RR I agree. The myc is puffy and cloudy rather than viney and rizo. It also took 3-4 more weeks than the rest of my jars/strains to colonize. The MS was a freebie from non-sponsor awhile back. Supposedly its Great White Monster. Luckily I was skeptical of the supplier and strain and only used it in one jar. None the less it reeks of mushrooms and I'm honestly pretty curious to see what's to come of it. I'm definitely going to seclude it from all my other cakes though. And Pown, it's been colonizing for 5-6 haha. been waiting to see if it would ever finish that spot.

Thanks cronicr. I'm going to birth it tonight. I also have some Colombian Rust Spore pinning right now, so if I get a good print maybe I can return the favor
