Alternative to polyfill for monotubs
    #19228978 - 12/04/13 09:23 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

So I ran across this fabric in our warehouse today. It's an anti fracture fabric that you use under tile. Now the fabric itself looks like micropore tape just thicker. It is very tightly woven as if it were tyvek. I didn't know if it was made of cotton or poly fibers. So I took a lighter to it to see if it would burn or melt. And it melted so I'm assuming it's made of some sort of plastic material. I was queues if anyone is familiar with this material because I am contimplating using it on my tubs.

I'm not familiar with it but I think that one of the reasons polyfill is used is because it allows good air flow.  I would be concerned that material like that will constrict the airflow in the tub.  Just my thoughts on it.

Why not just use polyfill? It's cheap and it works. Don't over complicate it man

I have a bag of polyfill and have always used it in the past. Just didn't like the messy look of it. I also have some micropore tape that I have never used. Just looking for options I guess

Well....if you can adjust that stuff like you can polyfill, for optimal airflow, I say go for it.....but chances are you cannot.

There is no substitute for poly in a mono.
