Only kidding I love you all.
Found this baby by a rock in the grass.. looked like a blue ringer so I grabed it. There was another one but it didn't look very healthy and was a bit eaten/black. So here are the pics please tell me what you think! The stem blued within minutes and it was pretty white when I picked it. Thanks!

And that cheese recipe looks delicious!!!!
that's my favorite, alenii!

Hey so, question time.
I have a medium sized patch of cyan mycelium that didn't pop pins in my yard this year. If I were to break it up into a five gallon bucket of water, fill a bunch of ketchup bottles and go around spraying chip beds would they be likely to colonize or am I just dreaming too big?
If yes I need to take the truck down to wood waste management and cover the backyard in joy

Why not just keep them where they are and feed them there?
Seems like some unnecessary cell destruction to move it.
But it can be done.

I was thinking of spreading the joy around town as apposed to just keeping them in my backyard. I come across so much amazing habitat just waiting to host them. I figure since I already have several different species colonizing egg cartons and a patch already producing in my yard I should take some extra and paint the town caramel.
I want to give back and not just be a greedy little piggy.

The discussion on the PNW actives thread about frost and cultivation makes me feel as though a little more detail about how agar cultures lead to harvesting is important, particularly when it comes to harvesting cyans outside of the natural fruiting season... links on how to harvest beyond season would be appreciated....

Pile leaves on your patches, it really works. Everything in my area is dying off, but my patch with the leaves on it is still popping pins and growing.

I take on their rose colored glasses for short periods of time, then live how I live with that perspective in mind, and toss a decent presentation together about how they should proceed.

I like the way you think and do something very similar in my area. When I start a new yard patch, I often take about half the wood chips I use to get it going and move it to a park or neighborhood.
So, yea, IMHO - Keep on truckin'!

My business card says "Independent Public Relations & Media Consultant" - The specificity allows me to bill for time watching TV, film, reading, and listening to music. "Business Analyst" leaves too much wiggle room for them to order me to waste my time on dull shit like accounting and forecasting. just to tie it into the thread, I can bill for tripping and having a good time.

Yesterdays hunt was kind of a fail. After 3+ hours of hiking around i only found one dried up liberty cap and a couple tiny pelliculosa pins.
Todays hunt made up for it well. Found lots of cool and interesting stuff but only edibles today.
HUGE matsutake!

Single nice looking Chant. Maybe Cantharellus roseocanus

Some big ol Gomphus kaufmanii

Some gyms/pholiota.. Waiting on microscopy for these.

Some pretty looking Gomphidius species.. rosy color on the gills / stipe

Interesting little Amanita.. never seen this one before on the PNW unless its a mutant muscaria

Found another interesting fungi but i dont know where to start on it so ill post a full ID request thread on it once spore prints are done.

So strange. I haven't seen any cyans or anything that wasn't frozen either black mush or frozen solid like an ice cube, until today.
Are these cyans? They are in a cyan patch, that was frozen over. They bruise blue, and sure look like them. Just these guys aren't frozen at all. Just small. I felt bad picking them since they are so small, but I wanted to keep them warm in my coat pocket, since there was ice on the ground.
Sorry for the crappy iphone photos. Didn't have my camera with me.
