Success! ( first grow )

Well.. Almost success haha. But I finally did it. After about a month and a half, I finally see all my work come together.. Here are some pics:

Sorry for crappy quality.. And crappy lighting haha... But you should be able to see what's going on. 1) all my fruits in separate poor man terr. 2) the first two birthed and first two to pin. 3) one fat baby pin on top (more throughout but hard to see) 4) about 4 pins, on the right towards top, and one on top (also few more throughout) I hope more pop out, but so far there are about 6-8 in all. Either way, I'm happy with my first try.. I also have some upgrades for the next batch. (Better verm, SGFC, more perlite, new space for better fruiting)
And I just wanted to say thanks to everyone on shroomery.. I know this is not the end just yet, but I'm almost there, and it wouldn't happen if it wasn't for all the great people on this sight. ( ty RR, and all you other famous shroomery'ers with harder to remember names.. )
Also, if I learned one thing on this sight, it would be 'patience'.. And a lot of it haha. I know a week isn't a long time to wait for pins.. But I've seen people on here with pins popping up after the first day of birthing, so after the first few days I just started thinking to myself "what did I do wrong..? Did I mess up somewhere..? Can I fix my mistake and still come back..?" But I gave it some more time, and sure enough I come home and poof! I got pins!! Hahaha

Regular SGFC. I found an awesome plastic box thing with a lid at home, and I would move them into it today.. But I need a drill hahaha.. Sux the hardest thing to get is the most common thing in most houses hahaha..

Yea that could take a while without a drill. If you're determined to make a SGFC you could heat up a screwdriver or anything roughly that size. (Of course borrowing is always cheaper than buying )

I tried that with these, I just ended up forcing a nail through the bottle lol. I would need a torch to warm the metal up enough, a lighter took too long. Also it cools down quick, it would be a lot easier with a drill lol. I know I'll be able to get one, just not at the moment Plus I don't exactly need it just yet. If I did it would already be done lol, but as you can see, what I have is working out so far, so I'm in no rush to get up the SGFC now.

Well if you're close to a pet store or large grocery store you could make a chamber like this one: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/12633804#12633804
It's cheaper than a drill. I have a similar setup, but I only have two air stones, and I use clay aggregate (like this one http://www.amazon.com/Hydroton-Clay-Aggregate-Grow-Media/dp/B000BPFJ32 ) instead of pearlite. All told I think the water pump cost about $15, a 10 liter bag of clay aggregate for $8, and the air stones were about $6 for both.
(This is mine)

The advantage to all of that for you, is that roughly $40 is still cheaper than a decent drill, and you only need about 7 holes.
Although reading this over, I guess I'm getting off subject. I meant to be congratulatory. For your first grow you look like you've done really well. Congrats

Nice poor mans terr! Was considering doing that tek but I think im leaning more towards a SGFC. And Ophl thats a really interesting idea, how does the clay aggregate compare to perlite?

I haven't used perlite in this terrarium. I imagine they're probably similar, but I went with clay because it's autoclavable (and reusable), and because I also have a small submersible heater under there and I was afraid with perlite it would only heat the immediate grains around the heater.

Keep the top on the tub while you're drilling holes, keeps most of the mess inside till you're done
