Firearm bans are probably pretty effective, too...where the government has the power to pass them. In the U.S., of course, firearm bans are unconstitutional.
However, there are plenty of constitutionally permissible weapons bans in the U.S. that have proven to be quite effective. When was the last time you saw someone walking down the street with an RPG? Or with a nuke in the back of his Chevy s10?

The point is that prohibition almost always works insofar as it stops people from doing whatever behavior was prohibited. One notable exception, of course, is drug prohibition.
I might add murder, rape and robbery to the list of things that prohibition has not ended. Need I go on?

Are you saying that murder, rape, and robbery occur at the same or similar rate as they would if they were not prohibited?
Nothing can ever change behavior in 100% of people, of course...there will always be those who do whatever they want. The law can only address those who are caught, after all.
Still, I'd say that murder, rape, and robbery are far less common than they would be if they were legal.

Not having a permit to carry isn't the same as being prohibited from owning a firearm. Are you impaired tonight, dude? You're definitely out in left field.

actually that's kinda a valid point. I think people that choose to eat shit should be treated similar to cigarette smokers in the healthcare system.
And when the Feds come along and don't let you: Jog - bad for legs and hips Loud music - hearing damage 2 wheeled cycle (motor or pedal) - Crash danger Skateboards - crash danger Mountain climb - fall danger
When a government can tell you what to eat, why can't they tell you what to do?

Go try to get a permit in NYC. And a prohibition from wearing it on your hip or under your coat is prohibition.

No. What I originally said was:

It's ridiculous to think that any behavior can be 100% eliminated by prohibition. I would never make that argument. My argument is that prohibition is generally highly effective outside of the context of drugs, and I'd probably also add teen sex.

Laugh all you want, but states that require no permit to carry have a much higher percentage of people who carry without a permit than states that require a permit.

Actually, you have been suckered. All they did was put $328 billion into fiscal year 2014 because of the debt ceiling issues.
If you add the $328 billion onto the $680 billion, you get over $1 trillion in debt for fiscal year 2013.
So before you call people dummies for not knowing something, just realize it's you that fell for this misinformation hook, line and sinker.

Absolute bullshit. Tell me then what was the purpose of your ambulance chasing profession? Is it not to incarcerate those that have indulged in "prohibited behaviors" if your ridiculous statements held even the least bit of water we would have no use for prisons and the corrupt "justice system" made up of self serving politician/lawyers.
All prohibition does as stated before is "Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."
-Abraham Lincoln (1809-65) U.S. President.
Of course is does make millions for the penal system, judges, scumbag lawyers, politicians, and law enforcement. Thank god for prohibition, now no one buys hookers, smokes weed, gambles, drives over the speed limit, jay walks, is intoxicated in public, eats shrooms, commits insider trading, or doesn't defend the constitution as they were sworn to do. Jesus christ Diaznon is illegal and I use it all the time, so do millions of others.
Funny thing about DDT though, couldn't use it as it is soooo dangerous to humans, but the WHO suggests ONLY using it INSIDE?!
Also, its used in Mexico, central and South America, thank God we don't have agreements like NAFTA, and CAFTA, which would allow produce from those countries sprayed with DDT to actually come to America, to be consumed by the American public. Yeah, thanks alot for looking out for the american public fucking politicians. Our farmers can't use the cheaper insecticides, but our people can ingest it though. Makes perfects sense, once again.

No law written by humans will ever enjoy 100% compliance. Are you 12? If we ended the prohibition on murder today, do you really think that society would be better? Quote:
