Casing Single Pint Jars of WBS to CVG sub in trays to test isolates.

I have a few isolates in jars wbs that I want to test out by spawning to Coir Verm Gypsum Sub... I do not want to do cakes this time around. So my questions are and assumptions for those questions are:
Whats the minimum size and depth of a tray that I can use for spawning my wbs? An 8" x 4" Bread pan lined with plastic?
What spawn to bulk ratio should i use for testing isolates? can i go as low as 1:4?
And finally, what do i use as a fruting chamber? a monotub design with polyfill?

for testing i'd say a 1:1 for speed and i don't line my baking pans but im sure you could
clone test in my gh, but i'd suggest a simple sgfc

Well, you won't know if you're getting a good yield, cuz they're isolates that aren't tested
Cron is right.
You could make small ones using ziploc tupperware containers, small pans, etc.

good point, is it pretty similar to spawning a monotub?

Yup. I used a big Stainless Steel Spoon for the coir+verm when I was running my 6 qt "shoebox" grows in my GH.
Or you could just grow in myco bags.

Mini-mono in a bigger mono. A 66qt tub will hold 2, while the 108qt will hold 3 of the "shoebox".

I mix mine in a trash bag prior to spawn (Also the liner). I dump it all in, shake it all around then put the whole bag into the tray. After shuffling the bag around till its "square", I put the lid on, and cut away anything that is sticking out the side. The lid holds the liner in place till spawn time. This works great with smaller masses.
Good luck!

Im off to go buy trays... whats the minimum sub depth I can use, probably gunna go with the 9x5s or 8x4s since im just testing single wbs pints of isolates with CVG sub...
How does sub depth affect the results? I want max yield

RR always says that a 2" sub will produce more than a 4" sub. I have yet to test it, but will be doing so soon.

i grabbed 8 x 4 x 2.5 and 11.75 x 5.5 x 3.25 foil trays
it sounds like i picked up the right pans
PS. can i line the foil with any plastic? for instance the clear plastic they are packaged in right now, or grocery sacks, glad wrap...

Yea, I'd probably just use glad wrap or something similar. But why line them? So they don't get 'eaten' through by the mycelium?

No. Unless you want to reuse the pans.
