Also, XUL, I think the introduction of user-created forums represents a step in the right direction away from what you experienced all those years before I even registered.

I'm good man, been busy with school lately, which kinda sucks but it's worth it.
Other than that, I'm doing OK, I guess.. Just got a great weed connection, dank nugs for 3-4€ less a gram, than the usual price
And thanks so much dude! After an excruciatingly idle year, I'm starting to think busy is the way to go man
Glad to hear you got you a good connection. I've got one now that is cheap enough to deal from but I feel like this would not bode well living with my parents.
Yet how many drug dealers here are living with their parents... Suburbia is weird. I think something collectively broke the upper middle class millineals. God my spelling sucks right now.

Some of the mods are practically cuddly; others I have certain qualms with but such are human social dynamics . Plus I was getting pretty out of control for a spell.

Oh, right! I seem to remember that vaguely now. Coming out as gay in 2006 was mortifying. Transgendered people have a courage I don't think any of us can quite comprehend (and seriously, think about it: being trans can still mean life or death depending on if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, and many times this "wrong" is specifically out for you just like they were chasing us poofs around before that).

I think you're missing the point. In a place like this you need only a handful of programmers and administrators (and mods). But you need a legion of people to share their thoughts, interesting content and whatnot. You contribute a lot more to the community by being here and interacting with others, consuming and producing at the same time, than if you were to add lines of code to an already undoubtedly jumbled mess.
Which team will work better in the end: the one where there's 20 people doing actual work and 1 coordinating the effort, or the one where 3 are doing some work and the other 18 are bickering about how those 3 should be doing it?

I do confess, however, it does exist.

You guys should let me help on programming . I was coding for Cerner before I graduated high school and I've only been out of programming frying my brain for about a year .
I used to try to help the website. But nobody cared.
After a while I kind of came to the thought that this place was ours and it was mine (the users). I thought that being a moderator or advertising the Shroomery outside of the web meant that we were doing a good thing. But you really can't help much because nobody in the upper echelon of the Shroomery gives a shit.
This is not a place where you can offer to lend a helping hand and work together to build something wonderful.
Moreover, this is not a place for positive efforts. I am just another brick in the wall. Are you? I don't know.

Plus you just broke that one unspoken rule I think.
Ask to help out and become a moderator and you shan't become one!
Your plaster is crumbling but i'll try to fill in the gaps

Many have helped me and I have helped some, even if it was only one. Look at the collective on the GHB from yeast thread, how is that not positive feedback?
Not to forget about our cultivation forums
We have user forums and we're not talking about you, Cervantes.

Honestly, from years of experience in corporate programming, computer science education (as a student and as a TA) and a couple stints doing computer science (-based) research, the better option is actually just 3 people working together period but if you've got 21 people anyway you definitely want them in the former configuration rather than the latter.
The advent of version control (i.e. subversion) made the patchwork coding thing a lot less messy.
Really it looks like infrastructure may be a bigger issue in the near future, and I mean that to especially include how and where they may have programmed certain things in a way that doesn't scale well.
There was some O(N^3) shit running somewhere this morning, that's for sure (JK but I haven't had an excuse to bring up big-O notation in literally years now so I couldn't resist )

Well, from years of experience in management science including a PhD in the field, I can say it's really not a universal law that small team size creates more or better output It really depends on a lot of other facts, starting with the nature of the work.
Anyway, I agree that proper version control (among others) certainly can make teamwork in software engineering perfectly feasible, but the question is how much programming work really needs to be done in a place like this.
One of the reasons why I'm currently being called a quitter by Cervantes (;)) is that I think the primary risk to a community like this is that overorganization. You can cuddle it to death by not resisting the urge to meddle with it. Really, it works pretty well - I honestly don't think there's a need for a huge staff.

Seems like you've got a bit more in the credentials on this one, Dr. Koraks .
I agree (though I've certainly got loss perspective) and I was figuring for running the Shroomery, but then again this site got fucking big so for 3 people, buuut as you were implying it would take a lot more work to build than to maintain.
If you think about it, though, pretty big undertakings aren't uncommon: chat from last year, user created forums now, how to customize everything to deal with Sheekle's account ( )... this could represent a fair bit of coding.
I did notice that some cuddles (well stated about that BTW) were here and GONE, like that lovely "theme" button, but I've been seeing a TON of a certain middleeastern gentleman denying that anythings wrong lately.
