Money laundering
    #19225776 - 12/04/13 08:53 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

What is the most common form of money laundering?

Lets say subject x made 1000 dollars selling illegal guns or something and wanted to make it legit, how would he do this.

And no... I don't plan on doing this, i just find it to be an interesting subject.

You set up legit business then have pawns spend your money on your product, thus laundering it.

start a cash based business, make sure normal operations are legal, nothing illicit. Then slowly start using your illegal money to add to the profits, you may need to manufacture recites. Depending on the amount of money you want to make this a long drawn out process. You want to appear to be running a successful business. But not TOO successful.

Worth mentioning is that, you'll have to pay a big slice in tax to launder it--as if you'd have to if you earned it legitimately.

Cash businesses are traditionally the best. A coin-operated laundry, arcade, pizza place, bar/restaurant... think mafia movies where the gangsters meet in a fancy restaurant that they own where everything on the menu is a la carte and vastly overpriced--think salad for $15. It's always empty, but they declare thens of thousands in income every night.

It can be used for assets that require a title or deed, like a car or house.

I share your interest. If I wanted to be a career criminal, I might go for something like this. There's also money to be made in insurance fraud or ripping off medicare, but any of these "white-collar crimes" are generally much less risky than pharmacy.
