I actually had 3 separate lights trained on it for that pic. I need to try a different camera I think.

I'd hate to see you throw away an allenii
Considering there were about 40 of these where I got this one, me too. I tried to get a habitat pic today but it came out pathetic (too far away, out of focus), because these are in a bad spot to be taking pictures.

haha.. also, leave the cap on the foil longer next time, you will get a darker more definite print
Trying to print again on white paper. Don't know if that will work.

at this point just let the cap dry out, it may bruise more if active..
Ok.

I have found friscosas that dried similar to this... to me that stem cut sure looks blue, stem has that silky sheen... but this is a hard one to say without a doubt..

I'd say it's brown or rust colored.

It was growing in a patch, but it was dark out and the area was barely lit by streetlamp, so I'm not sure if this one was solo or with others just like it.
-but I can say for sure this print would be a no for friscosas... They should never have a tinge of rust... dark purple/brownish-black is what you want to see.

Looks like a Psilocybe colored spore print to me.
OP's mushroom is probably Psilocybe allenii.

Your camera adjusted the exposure due to all the light reflecting off the white paper.
There are three possible solutions to this:
1) Press the shutter on the camera half way, then add more lights before you press it all the way. 2) Adjust the exposure on the camera to around +1 to +1 1/3 3) Take the pic on a black backgroud

I would agree, but look at that cap, i wish we had a better pic of it. It looks "sandy" like that of Panaeolus cintulus, that dry cracking that Psathyrella does.. wow. very weird.
But damn, looksn like its possible

My cyan & allenii prints never look that color.... My first thought was allenii, until I saw the spore print.. why does it look reddish? -Lighting, maybe.... but I dunno, its a weird one in my opinion.

It is that color because it is a light print.

I am leaning towards allenii. if op patch is exposed to wind the caps will break a bit and tan out. I'll post some similar pics soon.
At dontthinkso, don't be scared to take pictures in high traffic areas, dress a little bummy grow out your beard, carry a bag of tin cans ith you andd just say you're looking for recyclables always works for me but then again I have dreads and a full beard lmao!

Seems clear the next step is collecting more samples for examination, with better pics and spore prints. I wandered by the patch today and there's plenty more where this one came from.
The problem with this patch is that it's at my workplace, which makes picking a rather chancy endeavor. I'm actually still waffling on whether it's worth it.
Interesting that this mushroom has been this controversial!

I'm not going to ingest any of this mushroom, but just for educational purposes.
Is deadly Galerina ruled out? If so, how?

It seems the consensus is that you have a psilocybe. Collect more and take some more pics/make some more spore prints!

I tried Alan's suggestion of the black background, but the cap is pretty dried out now.

Ok, I'm back with more samples. Unfortunately the cold snap ravaged most of the mushrooms. But here are some more pics.

I'm tempted to say there is clear bluing on these mushrooms. But I'll wait to hear from experts.
I am attempting new spore prints.
Also, it's raining again. Should I expect that this patch might have new fruits again this season?
