Independance from Britian?
Baby steps bro. AA's get the whole month of february. I think there should be one whole day where we give Britian the middle finger.

Lol OP, it was a little more complicated than that.
I don't think we're scared, but complacent sure. I think that really, the overwhelming majority are well off enough that they just don't care. They hear about one of the hot button issues and get riled up, maybe go to a rally. They get pissed off about taxes when they get their paycheck; but they still make enough to buy their new xbox, so who the fuck cares?
Revolutions happen because people see the king rolling around in a new gold carriage while they are forced to eat shoe leather, not because of budget differences in the legislature of a few percentage points.

for one, racism was widely accepted everywhere in the western world. white supremacy could be equated to copernicanism in the middle ages. and while i think everyone should know our history warts and all, one thing that sticks in my craw is how spain is generally overlooked in discussions like this. those motherfuckers were brutal. the 17th - later 20th centuries were fucking bloody all around.

Yeah I guess it was a bit off topic, but still, the revolutionaries of the American Revolution had slaves chained up back home while they were out shooting Brits.

Bullshit the Boston Tea Party didn't cause the American Revolution. There have been plenty of rebellions since before the tea party, a notable one being the burning of the HMS Gaspee.
