Eating it Raww
    #19224900 - 12/03/13 11:17 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

So i have 4 feet of bridgesii on the way, I saw a user named "starfire_xes" or something like that and he seems to be very familiar with eating bridgesii raw. Ive gone through MANY of his posts and found a short pictorial he posted.
basically it goes like this:

1.despine
2. freeze and thaw
3. slice into stars
4. peel waxy clear skin from a star
5. chew the area around the white core
6. let it sit in your mouth
7. swallow after next star is ready to go
8. repeat

THREE QUESTIONS: how long should it take for you to down a foot or so of bridgesii if you were to use this method? I dont want to take too long yet consume it fast by chewing furiously

the "waxy clear skin" is the keratin like material that is actually on the outer external skin of the cacti correct?

should i EXCLUDE any other parts of the stars when consuming? im already avoiding the core, just going to eat everything else around it.

Another method i saw was to:

1. cut into stars (After despining)
2. cut into smaller chunks (including the core)
3. blend it all up with some lemon juice
4. drink it all up

Does this method work? and how much lemon juice should i add? Does it have to be exact? Would freezing and thawing + lemon juice work even better?

I too am interested in consuming the dried cactus raw having failed an attempt at using isopropanol to create an extract, I was thinking of perhaps making a vegetable smoothie.
Just how bad is the raw cactus on the stomach, would it be possible to hold it down long enough for the body to absorb the mescaline?

the first and only I have experienced mescaline was from a foot of raw San Pedro ( I got lucky with potency).

To answer your questions, the wxy skin.is just what you said. the outer most layer which when peeled feels like wax paper sort of.  it took me about 45 minutes to get most of it down cause of the vole taste and I also chewed as fast as I can closed my nose an had a drink with me. after a while I had to take a break cause the taste got too strong.

when I did it I de-spined, peeled, then cut into strips( also excluding the core) and ate as fast as possible. I doubt you will be able to leave it in your mouth..

The blender method would probably be better and I would have done it if I had a blender at the time. its easier to drink something gross than eat something gross. you can chug it and finish it quick. not sure how much lemon juice to put in that recipe but it doesn't make much of a difference to be honest. raw is raw. it might help a bit with extracting the mescaline but its not a must

I would highly recommend dehydrating the cactus. the slimy texture coupled with the bitterness is unbearable for most especially when you have such a large amount of material to deal with.

More than half of the cactus is water weight anyway; its just more practical.

I've only tried eating a small piece like that. I can't imagine eating enough volume for a full blown experience that way, but everyone is different. If you fillet and dry the dark green tissue below the skin, it has potential for good uses. You can just munch it straight up- not TOO terrible, but it does tend to get stuck in the teeth and stuff pretty bad. Or you can powder and encapsulate it. Or you can powder it and just mix it in with a beverage and quickly down it. Just make sure you quickly down it, otherwise it will start to rehydrate and get all goopy and stuff.

This.  Despine/skin it, cut into stars, then stick them in a food dehydrator, and eat em when dry.

I didn't get any nausea when I ate cactus like that.

Another way that works really well is to cut the cactus longwise into strips. This way the core can easily be removed. It contains very little mescaline and in larger cuttings can be VERY woody. Also makes removing the skin very easy.

If you freeze and thaw it... You will have a mess
If your eating it... Raw... Don't do that

Do that if you are making tea...

It's going to be bitter raw... Just to let you know

The idea of dehydrating it, and swallowing chunks seems like a good idea

Most folks make tea... Or take the tea to tar

Would you have to remove the wax like skin if you're going to dehydrate it?
And I'm looking for a dehydrator at the moment but I originally didn't want to get more materials(or any for that matter..)

Thanks for advice everyone! But I was just wondering if you could use an oven instead of a dehydrator by setting the oven to the lowest setting maybe? Would this not have the same effect as a dehydrator?

I've done it that way and it seemed to work OK. I'd probably keep the door cracked a bit. I've read conflicting opinions on the stability of mescaline and related alkaloyds, but I think they are pretty stable in heat. That's my understanding anyways. Sun drying is also an oldschool methed.

I've done it with Pedro. fucking horrible! I literally had two big ass freezer bags of cacti goo. I got most of it down but I consider myself pretty tolerable to gross shit. Most of my friends would never do it. Its the best way to ingest for alkaloids but terrible start to a trip. Anyways..try it nothing to lose.
