Make your predictions for who gets the Big Prize Of course I'm taking the Pens. But there are a lot of solid teams out there. Only thing is the Olympics are gonna throw a wrench in the works.

I still take Chicago, but St. Louis worries me. They are as good as anyone and have never won it. They have got to want it pretty bad by now.

It's time boys make your predictions. I still have faith in my Pens even with all the injuries the boys from Wilkes Barre are stepping up now. Even the Minor leaguers have their eyes on the prize. What say you?

Should be interesting playoffs. The West is loaded with teams with high point totals but I still have doubts about them. Four of the biggest winners, St. Louis, Anaheim, San Jose and Colorado have not had playoff success recently. L.A. won it once. I don't think Colorado is ready at this point. Any of the California teams could make it to the finals, but I would be surprised if they won it. Chicago had been slumping but they won 4 in a row without Toews and Kane so at least they are back in the hunt. They have the most playoff success in the current league but their lack of big bruisers will probably catch up with them. They are the most offensively skilled team but they get knocked around a lot. St. Louis is good; could go all the way, but lack of experience could be a problem.
It looks like Montreal is the only Canadian team in the postseason. This is not good for the league.
In the East I think the second round will be good. There are 3 or 4 teams that could give Boston and Pittsburgh a hard time.
If I was going to bet real money, I couldn't go against Boston. They play constant defense, good goaltender, hard hitting and they can score enough.

I fully expect the Wings to get ousted in the first round (looks like they'll either get Boston or Pitt, yikes), but TWENTY-THREE straight playoff appearances now.
23.
Longest active streak in North America professional sports. Pretty impressive.

Yea Detroit's string is incredible. Mind boggling really. The only way this could be accomplished is through a continuous string of good management. I know Scotty Bowman was there, but there were a lot of other years that he wasn't there and they handle all the upstairs moves so well. For a city that has been the biggest economic disaster for so long, Detroit can do sports (besides the Lions)
It took me by surprise tonight; Colorado has tied St. Louis in the standings. One of them will start against a wild card team, and the other should have a tough series with Chicago. Avalanche continues to be better than expected.

nobodys touching the bruins in the east
really just waiting for the finals now, and whoever comes out is gonna be a tired team who went through a tough western conference
depends on who the Bs play, but it could be a cakewalk for us to get to the finals

Seems to me The kid already backed Chara down at least once. Reminds me of this story in this book I once read. Something to do with a sling if I recall.

Avalanche coach Patrick Roy pulls his goalie with 3 minutes left. They tie the game and beat Minnesota in overtime. He said he was thinking about doing it with 4 minutes left. He looks like a genius this time.
I haven't seen it yet but they said one of the Colorado skaters made a great open net save.

yeah it was pretty cool
the puck was like 5 inches away from being a goal and he caught up and stopped it
awesome to see 2 powerhouses play an extra 2-3 periods too. get em both tired (even tho i would like to see a Bs vs st louis final. i just think the 2 teams play good and respectful hockey, unlike pittsburgh or montreal, who are both a disgrace to the game)
