Huge glass containers for FC (good?)
    #19223689 - 12/03/13 07:05 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

So I found these huge glass storage jars. About 12 inches in diameter and 20 inches tall. It has a fitted lid with it. It can fit two BRF cakes in them confortably and plenty of overhead space too. Don't have time to invest in a shotgun FC, so is glass good to use for a FC?
O and I am new to this hobby too.

Misread post... edit.

The Reason glass container is not great, is because it is harder to Cut holes in the sides to allow for Excellent air flow.
Unless you have the glass cutting tools on hand...

Search the forums for Plastic 2 liter bottle Tek's.

:whathesaid: that's why we abandoned fish tanks back in the 90's. Haha. A proper fc will do you much much better.

For sure. But is that the main thing with the shotguns, getting air to the cakes? Well just planning ahead, I still got a while until I need one.

Yes.  The design is spot on.  It allows for proper humidity and air flow, so long as you can mist and fan when needed.  There is great information on it all over this site.

They are specific in design, and one should not deviate.  Every other bad story of SGFC has a chamber with too few holes or the wrong size.

Good luck on your quest for knowledge!
