'Fast and Furious' star dead

"He was so handsome!"
"He will be missed!"
"Your movies were so cool!"
So many thousands of tweets and messages for Walker. Don't get me wrong, he had a likable onscreen persona and I was also taken aback at the news.
Ask most of those people, who died with him at the same time, and if the driver was handsome and you will get a shrug. If you are not famous nor beautiful, then your life has less value.
Also note that not one tweet reads: "Hey assholes! You were endangering the public by going 90 mph in a 30 mph zone and you stoopid, inconsiderate fucks reaped your just reward."
Wonder why that is? Too honest?

With 250,000 people dying daily, I got a shit-ton of tweets to make. Don't bother me until I am finished.

I can't believe that after such a short career, he's already claimed his first pole position.
"Paul Walker was one of the greatest actors of our generation.
He had us all believing he could drive."
Paul Walker: Wanna race? Ryan Dunn: Sure. First one to the pole wins?
Never really cared for him, or his movies. For me, it's just like any other person I didn't give a fuck about that died, I just don't care.

He was a human being, and a damn decent one too by his actions. He was an adventurer and a delver into the unknown as we all are here today.
He was a public figure and he paid the price for that as this thread goes to show.
Better men have died and not been news worthy, but that does not justify dishonoring him.

We are? Hardly imo. I think your post is kind of bogus if this is how realistic you are.

Thanks!, I don't. I'm making the assumption that those with the interest in mushrooms will eventually lead to their consumption of some sort of psychedelic driven by the same curioustiy that brought them here.
Thus they have or will be experiencing previously unknown (to them) facets of their own consciousness. Some good, hopefully all their bad.

I'm guessing you haven't noticed the word "sociology" in the forum rubric.
-------------------- Republican Values: 1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you. 2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child. 3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer. 4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

People generally put more value on the deaths of people they know. Or think they know.

It's a basic and prevalent idea. It's just amusing to see responses to celebrity death that closely resemble how geese roll golf balls into their nest as though they were displaced eggs.

I was really shocked at the size and intensity of the Fast and the Furious fandom, but I guess they have to be making those endless sequels for someone, right? I read an article that tries to unpack why people are so upset about his death. I still don't get it.

Is this a reason we should care about his death? I remember back when I thought that psychedelics created shared experiences and a common bond among users. The Shroomery was quite a wake up call though and taught me that people who use psychs are just as diverse and douchey as the mainstream population. It's not really a useful characteristic to judge a person's worth on, imo.

Hahah, I'm being misunderstood as only being a fan of Paul. What I'm trying to get across is all people. Mainstream and douchey, part of the shroom community or whatever it is...They're still human. They bleed the same as you and I(most of the time).
I don't agree with the mode of thought that fights against honoring someones death because they are popular or well known.

You're right, we should have a centralized, mandated system to ensure that each person's death, regardless of who knows them or what value they have for others, is respected and treated in the same way, to the same degree, equally by everyone.

Heheh... touché. Actually I agree with you in the sense that every death should be equally unspecial. Why should any death be honored or respected? That's just hubris and death anxiety, and it's certainly not helping the dead any.

True, the dead are dead. They couldn't care either way and even if they did it doesn't effect us in any measurable way we're aware of. Honoring the dead is then for those left behind.
I may want to be cremated but if my mother desires a funeral to make her feel better then that's what's most likely to happen...where am I? what am I going on about?! NUUUUUUUUU!!!
