how the fuck is this philosophy?
I'm guessing you haven't noticed the word "sociology" in the forum rubric.
-------------------- Republican Values: 1) You can't get married to your spouse who is the same sex as you. 2) You can't have an abortion no matter how much you don't want a child. 3) You can't have a certain plant in your possession or you'll get locked up with a rapist and a murderer. 4) We need a smaller, less-intrusive government.

People generally put more value on the deaths of people they know. Or think they know.

It's a basic and prevalent idea. It's just amusing to see responses to celebrity death that closely resemble how geese roll golf balls into their nest as though they were displaced eggs.

I was really shocked at the size and intensity of the Fast and the Furious fandom, but I guess they have to be making those endless sequels for someone, right? I read an article that tries to unpack why people are so upset about his death. I still don't get it.

Is this a reason we should care about his death? I remember back when I thought that psychedelics created shared experiences and a common bond among users. The Shroomery was quite a wake up call though and taught me that people who use psychs are just as diverse and douchey as the mainstream population. It's not really a useful characteristic to judge a person's worth on, imo.

Hahah, I'm being misunderstood as only being a fan of Paul. What I'm trying to get across is all people. Mainstream and douchey, part of the shroom community or whatever it is...They're still human. They bleed the same as you and I(most of the time).
I don't agree with the mode of thought that fights against honoring someones death because they are popular or well known.

I disagree with honoring the deaths of marginal celebrities more than other people just because they are popular or well known.

Just imagine how many different ways we do the same thing.

You're right, we should have a centralized, mandated system to ensure that each person's death, regardless of who knows them or what value they have for others, is respected and treated in the same way, to the same degree, equally by everyone.

Heheh... touchΓ©. Actually I agree with you in the sense that every death should be equally unspecial. Why should any death be honored or respected? That's just hubris and death anxiety, and it's certainly not helping the dead any.

True, the dead are dead. They couldn't care either way and even if they did it doesn't effect us in any measurable way we're aware of. Honoring the dead is then for those left behind.
I may want to be cremated but if my mother desires a funeral to make her feel better then that's what's most likely to happen...where am I? what am I going on about?! NUUUUUUUUU!!!
