It'll be fine...preferably it will be organic too.
However, if you are worried, I'd be happy to take half off your hands...

Maybe for a few $100s you can spare. Now you have it I am thinking if they are sprayed or non-spray rye grain. Insects love them if they can get into the bags if not protected already. If they are sprayed to protect against fungus and insects (mouse, weevels) then I don't know how that will affect the myc. and mushroom outcome. I had a chance to buy them by the tons here at harvest time before the spray and warehouse storage. But figured I don't need that much for my small operation so I'll pass on that one. It is better if you can sample a small batch to see how the myc. do on them. If not good then you can feed them to the farm animals. I'm not even sure if what the local farmer sprayed on is good for human consumption or not. Perhaps in small quantities? But they do bagged or toted them for later for sale until the next season new harvest again. Sadly, the farmer cannot even tell me the truth with inquiry what was the name of the chemicals they use.

I would expect them to be fine. For long term storage you should seal them in mylar with O2 absorbers, or at least food grade 5gal buckets with O2 absorbers.

If they're dry and have been kept dry the whole time, they're fine. I've used 5 year old bags of rye berries and they were fine.
Don't pay more than $200 though. That's the price of a 1/2 ton tote. RR

Grains can last 30-50 years if kept in optimum conditions. If they're dry, they'll be fine for about a decade before the nutrients begin to oxidize and degrade. If they're wet, or stored in a humid environment at medium-high temperatures then they could begin to decay within 5 years.
For you, the best thing will be to bag them with mylar and heat seal it with desiccant packets inside.
