I have a 23 qt PC. Does it hurt anything to lay my WBS quarts sideways on the top to fit a few more in at a time

I usually try to keep the filter as high as possible depending on your layout of your lid when going sideways.

No, that's 14-1/2 qt sterilizer. But I take out the inner "bucket/liner" so I can fit 10 quarts in it. 7 standing up & 3 on their sides. The PC next to it is a 30 quart PC (AA 930), which holds 14 quarts all standing upright.

So there is no issues around removing the inner liner? I would be able to fit a fuckload at a time if I did that, but I wasn't sure if it was a good idea.

Yup, just make sure to take off the tube that comes from the toggle valve before running it. Mine is so old that I had to just tear it off with some pliers.

You can't fit 10 Qts in a AA 1915x sterilizer. You can in a AA 1925x. i have both.

Yea, that's what I said. my 25x fits 10. You can fit 10 in a 50x as well, since they're the same size.

NO no no. Take a rubber band and tie it up so that the tube is at the top under the lid. When you want to run it as a sterilizer, just take the rubber band off and slide the tube down into the basket slot.
That's the way I've been doing it for years and it works fine.

OK. why would you tell the person, who owns both an AA 930 and an AA 25X, how many quart jars I can fit in it? & that tube, normally, should just screw off, like I said mine is really fucking old.

Yea, believe me, I've tried every which way to put more jars in, but running 24 at once is enough. But, barely....

You'll still only be able to do 7 in an AA 930. It's only fits 7 quart jars on the bottom, then seven more stacked on top of those 7.

here is an AA 1915x, an AA 1925x, and a AA 941:

Here is a 1925x full with 10 jars

here's a 1915x filled with 7 Qts (no basket)

I love all of them.

Let me clear this up for people who still think that they have to use the basket.
Remove the basket and rubber band or zip tie the tube to the top of the inside of the lid. Now fill it with as many jars as it will take and you have , in effect, a PC. When you want to turn it back into a sterilizer, take the rubber band off or zip tie, and put the basket in being cautious sliding the tube into the slot in the basket.
It's a very efficient unit and the best part is that you run it on 1 1/2 Qts of water and when you close the toggle, it runs silent.
These units stands head and shoulders above the other PC units.

It's still a sterilizer w/out the basket in it. They're considered sterilizers, because there's no toggle weight but a valve. You can convert an AA PC into a sterilizer by replacing the weight and nozzle with a toggle valve.
If I remember correctly, a 75X fits 16 quart jars, but not 100% sure on that. Total has 2 of them, and I'm sure with a quick search on this site you could find that answer quickly.

Let's make one thing clear. An AA Sterilizer is NOT an AA PC. The toggle was used on all AA's until UL decided it was unsafe to leave the unit with a flame under it and no one to babysit it. If you look at e bay and look at the older AA's, they all have toggles on them. It was Underwriters Laboratory that forced them to use a "safer" way of getting the job done.
All of the current sterilizers still have toggles on them. All of the current PC's have rockers. All sterilizers have a basket in them and the PC's don't.
Do yourself a favor and call WAFCO Inc. and ask for the head tech there. He is a wealth of information and will give you all the information you need to explain, with authority, what you are talking about.
I'm not dissing you TL but i think that you would learn a lot by having a conversation with him. i did.
Sincerely, bootster
P.S. I forgot to remind you that a Sterilizer has 2 backups for over pressure while PC units only have one.

Didn't take it harshly, bro
But we can agree that a sterilizer is still a sterilizer w/out the basket.

That was a Pressure Canner, that's why.
I still disagree with TL on this one. Here is a picture of a sterilizer lid, note the metal "over pressure" plug that the PC units don't have.

And it says "Sterilizer' right on the lid?

Does your gauge look like this?

Why do you think that there's a sizable increase in cost when you buy a sterilizer?

PCs have the over pressure plug in them, now. Don't know how old your 930 is, but mine definitely does. Yes, my sterilizer gauge looks just like that. I didn't buy my sterilizer. It was a gift from a shroomerite since he can't grow anymore.

You can see the little black divot just behind the lid handle.

Not my emergency release valve on that is an actual valve, not plug. Funny, cuz it will slowly leak when it hits 21 PSI, but as the PSI keeps going up, it raises up as well.
& The price increase is due, for the most part, to the fact that they're electric. The stove top sterilizers AA sells are significantly cheaper than the electric ones.

Your gauges are black and white and don't have the red plug nor the other all metal safety device. No toggle either. Clearly a PC since they don't even make a 30 Qt sterilizer.
I don't own an electric sterilizer and never will.
I suggest that you call WAFCO up and get the real skinny from him.
Show me one of these and we'll start there.

All sterilizers have them.

I have one of those, but not the red emergency "pop" release rubber part on my sterilizer. The PC has one, but not my sterilizer, since it's so old. The gauge on my PC is black and white, not on the sterilizer. There's a lot of "newer" parts on the sterilizer however, since dude replaced them for me when he gave it to me.

it's a good idea for safety's sake to replace/repair parts on any Pressure Unit. The gauge would be the first thing to go, so I'd check that. That being said,my Sterilizers blow out excess steam from the toggle before anywhere else. Saves my but every time. Could you imagine one of the other blowouts flying off the unit and trashing everything inside it. I am so happy that it is blowing out toggles instead of other blowouts. It calms back down in about 5-10 seconds.

Yea. Prof Pinhead had both of his 75X blowout valves blow once. Said the house was filled with steam & it sounded like a shotgun going off. Oh, and not to mention everything in them was ruined.
I don't really use my sterilizer anymore, because the thing doesn't turn off. So I have to get up every 10-15 minutes and turn it on or off.
