Well, I'm officially behind in life...
    #19221240 - 12/03/13 09:31 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

My best friend who is 4 years younger than me is talking about marrying his girlfriend. My childhood friend who's the same age as me just married his girl in secret and is 4 and a half months pregnant.

Most of the people I went to school with have children/ are pregnant / are married.

I'm still single, no prospect ahead of me, no kids, no intention of marrying ever.

I fell behind...

All I have to say is that I'm richer than all of them (or close).

Which is better? Money, or a family?

What good is money if you have no family to share a life with>? Also, anyone can have a family and have money.

Yeah but still.

It makes me feel like everybody around me is blooming, spreading their wings and flourishing while i'm still a seed in the earth that hasn't grown.

It's weird.

Newsflash:  Life isn't a contest.

Having kids is a biological response.  The goal of 90% of women is to get married and assist in that response.

Neither are real "Achievements".

Why would you see yourself as "behind" for not doing things you had no intention of doing anyway?

I dunno man. Like I said earlier, I have a feeling that I'm not growing.

Most people get have kids and get married or stay together in long relaitionships.

I'm officially not in the "normal" spectrum of things. Not that being normal is of any importance in life (personally I feel that being outside the mold is better), but still. It kinda affects me.

Dude, I know exactly how you feel... I'm in the same boat across pretty much all dimensions of my life and I've perhaps even regressed instead of stagnated.

Why don't you want to get married though?

You could try focusing on other goals.

I've had the anecdotal observation that career focused people are less likely to have children.

It keeps saying "Can't process your order, please try again later."

I figured it was because it said the other two supporter accounts I had just bought were still pending on the gift card. I checked this morning, and they went through. :crankey: I'll keep trying

As for not having kids or whatever, I'm in my mid-late twenties and also am not married (yet) or have kids. I think if you reach 40, it's time to panic.

I don't believe in marriage. I am a militant atheist and marriage is widely perceived as a religious concept. Plus I think it's somewhat useless given that fact the you can get divorced as easily as you can break up with a none married GF

I have plans, business plans, financial plans, investments plans. My plan is to get very rich. That's the only plan I got. I haven't even considered a family or kids or whatever, It's all things that other people do in my head.

It's really weird though cause despite all the money I want to make, I have no dream purchase. I don't want a ferrari or a huge house or whatever luxury a couple million can buy you. I just want it to have it. Go figure.

If you compare yourself to other people you'll never add up in every way.

Life to death isn't a straight line and everyone's path is a different length. You can't be behind someone who's running a different race

This view is probably going to decrease your chances of children, depending on the circles you date in.

Man, I get down on myself like that sometimes like "Damn, I'm practically still a kid." Then I realize "Hot damn, I'm practically still a kid! I'm gonna go drink a beer and spend some money recklessly without worrying about a wife and kids!"

All of the people around my age married with kids seem beat as fuck.

Family isn't the end all be all. Plenty of cool stuff to do out there.  Just make sure you're working to live, not living to work.

You can choose to get divorced as easily as breaking up with a gf, but there is quite a bit of monetary entanglement etc to deal with (Which is why you don't need a lawyer when you break up with your gf...)
