I hope not. At least it needs to be shown that water drawn into the cake will be used for mushrooms. Kindof seems to me like he got an unconsolidated pre-emptive flush. I suspect that a vast majority of his v-tek yield is yet to come, even if it still doesn't dazzle.

Not to worry because I feel the tone has certainly gotten better in here I would like to apologize for getting snarky, its been 3 days of exceptional stress. My dog is going to be ok, I got her to the emergency vet in time and as of today she is back to normal. Which means she tears around and destroys things like a typical staffordshire should I am going to finish this log out, but its become more of a learning experience, as it should have been from the start. With than in mind, here is a bit of an update.
Tub is resting after its ordeal. The mycelium has recovered and taken back over any divots with a vengence. Just misted the hell outta it.
My pp5 containers are moving along a bit better with the constant waterings. I have now bottom watered 2 of them three times, but I'm worried the pins are still gonna abort in the centre. Its like a sponge, feels like I just can't give it enough
My "second flush" coming in. Lots of aborts in there from previous. I hope the new pinset does not abort on me

oooh oh i have relevant thoughts to add... kumbaya, indeed.
ya know, i bet your soggy bottoms have tons left to give. forgive my newbness talking, but i'm not sure the dirty mess is only about water. i think it's also about diffusion and surface area. i mean, it's been clearly demonstrated that individual mushrooms don't need much nutrition to be. some thread around here showed a pin grow from a single grain, and pins apparently have all the cells they ever will. after that they just inflate with water. it seems like the sub also provides a greater surface area for the mycelium to convert that nutrition to fruit, so it can convert more of it to fruit at once. fewer, larger flushes. more mess to dispose of.
on the other hand... holy shit new understanding has been reached, look out, y'all, it's time to soliloquize.
thinking back this has been stated before, maybe but... bulk subs allow the fungus to fruit more at once, allowing it to be fully spent sooner, risking contamination, and thus waste of substrate sooner. each individual sub has less time in existence. soggy bottoms, as i call them, are more concentrated, so individually they last longer in this world. too many variables, indeed too many ways to judge for one to be better or worse than the other, as if these were the only two ways to do things. it's categorically impossible to say which will have a better yield, as there's too many ways to define the term 'better.'
fuck me, my mind just exploded. i have this killer vision of myself in ten years, assuming i haven't yet checked out. a dirty mess (monotub or something) or three cookin in the basement, and a bunch of soggy bottoms littering my windowsills amongst the house plants and incense burners. "how'm i feelin today, jack? well, i see a couple ripe pans over there by the sorrel, i think i'll eat em and play some records. and when my dirty mess flushes in the basement, i think i'll throw a party."

cheers, y'all. i love this place.
