OFT. I rarely do grow logs with monocultures cause they are too predictable. I love the randomness of ms, like a box o chocolates

They are pretty small, that's why I'm thinking I need to do some bottom watering, just there does not seem to be much of a gap between the sub and the sides Maybe I'll try with a syringe tomorrow.
At least they're pretty! So far it looks like bulk kinda trumps cased grains, but I'm excited to see how the rest of the pp5 containers do.
Well the jury will be out until all flushes are in and counted. I believe that in spite of the smaller flushes of the V tek, that is supposed to be offset by the number of them. If bulk only manages two or three flushes, and the V tek makes it for seven, the numbers may work out in the end.
That's right, I forgot about that. I guess I'll keep an open mind until it's done.

Even if the numbers do works out in the end who wants to wait around for that many flushes to get the yield. Seems like a lot of extra time and work to me

The surprise factor of MS is pretty fun.

Well ya see, in theory, noobs like me tend to grow a lot of trich This is safer, like sex with a condom. Don't feel as good, is a lot more work, but at least it lasts longer

But you didn't get aids. . . I mean trich
In all fairness, I think that it has its place based on individual conditions and needs. I myself prefer bulk for cubes, but I think V tek has fantastic potential for exotics, which is a reason that I want to become proficient at it. For some growers who live in highly urban areas, with different constraints, factors or needs, V tek might very well be just the ticket to move past cakes, without dealing with some of the hassles that can come with bulk. Some of the claims that have been made are a little outrageous, and much of the rhetoric on both sides has be rife with hyperbole, which is why I am doing this run. To cut out the BS, and get to the heart of what works, what doesn't, and where the advantages lay with both methods Hopefully people read this and take it for face value.

All kidding aside, I agree. The v-tek may have some great potential and I just can't say for sure until I try it. Although I wonder if it would work for exotics? Cubes grow on anything, would cased grains work for other dung lovers or wood lovers that can be grown indoors?

i managed a handfull a few months ago, not much of a success but i think most of my problems were coming when i broke my sub up to put into trays, the recovery is much longer then something like cubes, it took about 50 days just to get fully colonized and another 14 for my casing and another 20 before a few pins popped up..pain in the ass for 7 fruits and 20 qt's and around ten failures later lol

Should do a log on something like this. Would get a lot of views I'm sure

I have seen pans grown on cased grains and they did excellent. I tried to duplicate it and failed. I now believe that the problem lay in the weakening of the fragile pan myc network without having anything to colonize after. With V tek I am sure I will succeed. Gonna put a few pan spores to agar soon and giver another shot. It has been well documented that varieties in section mexicana will also fruit off cased grains. I have a feeling that they would not only thrive in a V tek setting, but that the stones could gain some potency due to the long invitro period. Just a hunch, but one I will be acting on

I too am anxious to see how all this plays out. If my bulk catches a contam after the second flush, this could be a foregone conclusion It could happen, noobs like me grow many tubs of trich all the time

Wow, that's very cool. I thought pans never did well without manure, but I am pleasantly mistaken.

Pasty, if you get two flushes (or even 1.5) off that mono, you'll beat four flushes from that cased grain, no problem.

Well I usually aim for 5 but, lately I have been averaging around 3 (I blame the specific cultures, which just giver for the first 2 then quit after 3 ) but this particular culture I have been averaging around 4-5 so lets hope for 4, I likes me sum fruits
