Still Unclear On Lighting

Hello Fellow Mycologists.
So I have been using this lovely message board to its fullest and have found it to be so amazingly helpful. I honestly can't believe how thorough the information on here is. I am confident with my set-up, but the only thing that I continue to have paranoia about is light. I have read all of the posts about light but can't seem to figure out if my setup is OK in terms of light.
I have my terrarium right near some windows that receive only indirect sunlight, but they are in a room where I spend most of my time, meaning lights are on based on my schedule, not the fungi's. Is this OK? They get about 4-6 hours of indirect sunlight and approximately 8 hours of guaranteed darkness, with the remaining hours being anything from dark to just the glow of LCDs to lit by a ceiling light fixture. Should I be giving them a more rigid schedule? For me this would mean moving the terrarium into my closet and then supplying light with either a CFL or LED desk lamp (I already have one of each, but am not too keen on using them like this because then I worry I will have too much and too direct light, because they are desk lamps not grow lamps).
Basically, I am just hoping somebody can appease my nerves. I birthed, dunked, and rolled my BRF cakes 5 days ago and so far can't see any pinning, just mycelia growth in the vermiculite from the roll.
Thanks a bunch!!

I would imagine that the amount of light that will be available would be sufficient. I have had great luck with a similar setup using only natural indirect lighting. Changes in conditions (Winter) required me to supplement lighting, so I added a timer and a very small florescent light. My office area does not get good light at all in the winter.
Good luck and do keep us posted!

Indirect light has always been totally fine for me. I'm planning on getting a small led light to see if it helps at all though.

LED's rule when it comes to lighting for your grows. I had massive grows using em. But the indirect sunlight and room light should be good enough from the sounds of it.

I would do research on LED lighting versus CFL/fluorescent. I stuck with Fluorescent because of quite a bit of discussion/research.

The recommended standard is a 65000K CFL tho and is the standard.

Good to know, thank you. I'm really looking for something that I could stick inside the lid of a tub as I'm trying one of those "monobuckets" right now.

Great guys thanks for the help! I am going to move my terrarium to my closet and basically build it a small dark area with a led lamp indirectly supplying light in the area, but I think the way for me to get consistent 10-12 or less hours of light will be to have the lamp on at night and off during the day. Is this a bad idea? Should I just save myself some time and be patient with the current setup?

Bad idea. Closets are horrible places to grow due to lack of fresh air. Keep your terrarium in bright light during daylight hours. The exact timing isn't as critical as with plants, but see to it they get a few hours of bright light(even a few minutes of direct sunlight is good) and the rest of the time they'll be fine with just your room light. If you need extra, get a clamp-on fixture and screw a daylight/6500K CFL into it. RR

Hey RR thanks for responding, didn't really think about that. I now have a CFL bulb in a desk lamp that I have clamped above my terrarium. I just worry that I will have them on more of a 16/8 on/off cycle rather than 12/12. Am I worrying too much?
