actually i couldn't believe it but there was some flying skinny fly thing on them when i got to cleaning, and what looked like a couple slug chomps.
i was amazed considering the snow.

i managed to take a pic before i scooped them all out of the pan (i almost forgot)

(i'm calling these Hypholoma sublaterium)

Hmmmmm, eating a Hypholoma sp.  you must be good at differentiating the species.  I'd be scared!

They look too much like H. fasciculare for my liking.  Did you already eat them?  If so, how did they taste?

yes, they were very good. nutty taste, not bitter as described for fasciculare and so far, so good?  been a couple hours.  i'll know in a few more if i was wrong i suppose.

these puppies are deep red, not yellow. brick cap is common name.

this IS the first time i've eaten them but i only ate about oh half a cup maybe, cooked very hot in a little clarified butter.
