Florida Mush?
    #19218752 - 12/02/13 06:53 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

These mushrooms were found growing on top of cow dung in North Florida during November 2013. The average temp during the time period was 70 degrees. They were found in a somewhat hilly cow pasture on the slope of a hill. The caps are a goldish color and the undercarriage has gills. They look very similar to psych mushrooms I have seen in the past. Thoughts? Thank you

Do you have any pics?

I can't see your gallery. Did you make sure and share them?

Inside the stem is slightly bluish and other parts of the mush have a slightly blue tint. Is that a major indicator (the blueness) ?

Probably P. cubensis.  Can you get pictures of fresh ones?

Many mushrooms change color when they're damaged, and this is an important identifier. Only a few types of mushrooms bruise blue, and one mushroom compound that reacts with oxygen to produce a blue pigment is psilocin. A few other mushrooms contain different chemicals that also react to produce something blue when the mushroom is damaged, so you shouldn't count on this as enough for an ID by itself, but it's a major indicator nonetheless.
