SGFC Humidity Problem PLEASE HELP!

Hey guys so I just put my BRF cakes into the fruiting chamber 6 days ago and i am having a crazy time keeping it humid in there, i followed the tek word for word 2" spaced holes on every side of the tote 4" deep perlite layer. I bought a hydrometer yesterday to see what the RH of the tote was and it was reading 40 so i checked my perlite and it was already pretty dry, i read all over here trying to find a solution i remoistened the perlite and increased FAE to promote evaporation but im still only sitting at 55% RH, The meter is analog and when i wrap it in a damp towel goes up to 85% after about 2 hours. IS it possible my meter has a bad sensor that its taking so long to notice a change in humidity on the gauge? The only other thing i can think to do to add humidity at this point is to Re-dunk all my cakes but there are a few fruits and only just dunked them less than a week ago. If anyone has any idea what im doing wrong here id be greatly appreciated!

hmmm. to be honest, im currently working on my first project myself and havent put my cakes in a sgfc yet but im trying to think of what could be drying yours out. do you have a light on your sfgc? if so it may be too close to it? the heat may be drying things out in there? also, do you have a fan running in the room/near the sgfc? are you misting your sgfc a few times a day as directed?

Yes....it is also possible that it is cheap chinese garbage made for the sole purpose of separating you from your money.
If you have the proper holes on all 6 sides, and the chamber is raised so that air can pass up thru the bottom holes and up thru the prlite, and if there are no running fans in the room......your humidity is perfect regardless of what some chap hygrometer says.
How often are you misting the cakes?

I mist 4 times a day and fan manually 6 times I thought not enough FAE at first so I bought a small oscilating fan to put in the room at low setting but that made things worse, I know the meter is most likely crap, but even so it still says humidity is dropping drastically. Only other air flow Is the vent in the floor and I have a small electric radiator thing to keep the temperature in range in that room. The chamber is raised on 4 jars so air can flow through the bottom. As for the lighting question yes I have a 6500k bulb about 5 inches above the chamber Will go take pics and post them for you.

I take my chamber once a week and remove the cakes and hose down my perlite

you shouldn't need to, it should be getting moist everytime you mist and as for the op just ditch the hygrometer and keep an eye on the moisture on the surface of your cakes they should glisten after a mist, wait for the glisten to go away before misting again and as long as that process happens you have your 100 rh on the surface where it matters, if you built your sgfc to spec you have no reason to worry

i thought i was having the same problem recently so i borrowed a buddys hydrometer (a bad ass one) and come to find out my rh is just fine. i figured out the trick is to just trust your sgfc (as long as its built to spec)

Yeah sounds like you just got a junk meter. Just mist and fan several times a day and keep an eye on the perlite moisture content. Temps anywhere between sixty and eighty fahrenheit is fine. As long as you got that temp and moist perlite your humidity is fine.

Maybe you are fanning too much and giving it too much FAE, and that is why moisture is never properly accumulating

We do not fan for FAE...we fan out the chamber to drop the humidity for evaporation to take place, which creates humidity..
As long as you do this after every misting, you should be fine.
