I'venever noticed grains shrivelling when dry, but if they were too dry when he pcd them then they wouldn't have shrivelled because they never expanded.

Those are almost certainly contaminated. Like it was said, too dry would mean the mycelium couldn't colonize it.
Those grains are well colonized, with mold.

Well I'm slowly convincing myself all of my jars are contaminated, then. Which is a shame. I could've redone then some time ago when I realized they weren't doing completely fine. It's a shame I lost precious time.
These are all jars, I'm taking pictures of the most colonized and less colonized spots. Also of the "powdery" spots (which I, myself, found intriguing). I'm not sure if I spawn them, and take my risks, or just... Screw everything.
Damn. This will never work for me, will it? I can't ever succeed a single grow.

Myclium really looks weird and nothing like cubes, but he said it smelled good and i presumed he meant it smelled mushy..

And about you, uncolonized rye on top is not dried IMO. If uncolonized rye always stays on top, than you can be pretty sure that something came through lid and contaminated top grains. Consider reviewing your filter material. Also, if it gets wet, contams will pass through.
EDIT: And anao, what kind of lids are you using?

That is completely untrue.
Every jar I've ever made has at least a couple grains on top that don't colonize. Some have more than others.
They are not contaminated in the slightest

That's how my millet looked and behaved is all I'm saying. A bunch of the jars never germinated bc it was too dry and those that did grew thin and eventually stalled (most stalled, some finished).when I'd shake them they'd recover fine, but again would quickly stall because there was no moisture left and the tops of the jars were harder to colonize than the rest.

In all honesty, they didn't smell like anything. At all. After spawning them, the whole monotub smelled mushy. But then, it might be because I'm used to the smell of substrate, and it might've been that, instead. I can see white spots on the top of the monotub I've done with a similar jar, I'm not sure what to take of it. Is it some weird mold taking over, or maybe cubensis mycelium trying to struggle just to be overcame by the other mold(s) or bacteria?
Either way, I screwed it all up, again. And I was thinking everything was going fine, lol.
Thanks for the invite for starting a growlog, but I can't. I wouldn't be able to handle another failure with all the community's criticism. I can't make standard, fool proof techniques, I'm too poor for most of them and some are completely impossible because I can't get stuff here where I live. So, I need to stick to these crappy teks and pray. I've told myself failure ratio would be high, I wouldn't except it to be 100%, though. I thought popcorn would be easy. Hah.

Really? My bad, sorry for sharing wrong info. I dont usually have uncolonized grains on top. I was asuming that if mycelium isnt able to colonize a grain that something else must be growin there already.

I use SFD's and it never gets wet. If you don't think grains can't dry out in a jar then you haven't tried growing a slow species, that can't be shaken in a dry climate. I swear people from humid areas have no idea what it's like to grow in a near desert or frozen wasteland. To me even Kansas would be a pleasant change.

No worries, my man. Just had to let you know
It depends on how much GE your filter material gives (hole size, type of filter).
I see it all the time with a 1/4" hole covered by an SFD circle.

So, how long should it be until I'm able to identify contams on the monotub? 1, 2 weeks? I'm not sure which contaminants are these. Not sure what they should smell or look like, so any info is good.
I still can't stand the idea of tossing them all out, all of a sudden. I'm not sure if it would do any good trying to spawn them, just for shits and giggles. Damn. I've even done a LC with these spores and it looked fine... Guess I ran out of luck, and chances. My print is done and my LC is probably contaminated.

I've spawned one, 3 days ago. It looks fine, normal cubensis growth but I just wanna know how long should I wait until I can see what's going on. Should these molds or yeast grow faster than cubensis, at the same speed or..?

Sometimes there will be no telling until the tub just doesn't colonize, pins early, or (worse) refuses to fruit at all.
