No signs of mycelium growth
    #19216058 - 12/02/13 06:33 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I got 2 syringes from spores 101 (golden teacher, did everything by the book very sterile, waited long enough for the jars to cool down and almost 2 weeks later of incubation at a temperature of 80-85(in my cupboard whit a light bulb on the lower shelf to keep warm) and no mycelium. My guess was syringe was bad so I tried again and used the other one,put a very generous amount of spores in each of the 4 jars 4 days ago. This is my first time and either I`m doing something wrong ore the spores are bad .btw I used vermiculite and BRF( I couldn't find BRF so I grinded up some brown rice)and the syringes where traveling 15 days from canada to bulgaria.

See how the other syringe goes. Sounds to me like it's bad spores.

I honestly think you got screwed.....

Buy spores from one of our sponsors and try again.

I would also suggest following this tek for your next run....

Here is some much needed, updated info for ya.......

Light, Temperature, and Pinning Triggers...

Jars/bags/tubs/trays should colonize @ room temperature getting ambient/indirect light.

Main pinning triggers are full colonization, FAE and Evaporation off of the substrate.

Light is a secondary pinning trigger. For tropical species temperature is not a pinning factor.

P. Cubensis are a tropical species. You could colonize at 70F and fruit at 80F with great results.

Light has been proven beneficial during all stages of mycellium growth. Mushrooms like mammals have a circadian rhythm.

You want ambient/indirect light(on a 12/12 schedule preferably) for colonization and consolidation.

You want direct/intense 6500K light on a 12/12 schedule for fruiting.

Optimal temps are mid 70s throughout the whole grow, but anywhere from 65F-80F is acceptable.

Incubation is outdated/uneeded unless temps in the range stated above cannot be kept.

The inside of the jar is always a few degrees warmer than the outside because the mycellium produces heat..mycellium tends to stall at temps above 86F , and contams thrive.

Fruiting at cooler temps tends to produce denser, meatier fruits, while fruiting at higher temps will often produce hollow, less dense stems.

Mycelium should be exposed to ambient room light from day of inoculation as has been known for many years.  Light is not a pinning trigger until after full colonization and an increase in air is given, and even then it's a secondary pinning trigger.

Could be a bad syringe; Out of 3 syringes from Spores 101, 1 was bad (no germination at all), the other 2 were totally fine. All the jars were inoculated & colonizing in the same conditions. Doesn't make [economic] sense that they'd do this intentionally- I'm guessing the bad one was either old or mislabeled. More likely incompetence rather than malice.

Makes perfect economical sense actually.....they have a very catchy website and sell bogus syringes to noobs who don't know any better and chalk it up as a loss on their end.

They make money hand over fist by fucking people......they have for years.....the only thing we can do is alert peeps like this.

Yeeeeea, you probably got screwed. I got two syringes of dud spores from them. Same thing happened to me, followed everything and no mycelium growth. If I look at the syringes they sent me, versus any other ones I've received. You can clearly see that there are barely, and I mean BARELY, any spores in theirs. Long story short, I will NEVER order from them again.
