Mushrooms growing on newly fertilized lawn
    #19213750 - 12/01/13 05:06 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Hello everyone!
This is my very first post here and I am brand new to mushroom hunting!  So I apologize if some of my descriptions are a little lackluster.
I was hoping if anybody could offer any suggestions as to what type of mushroom this might be.

Habitat: Newly re-fertilized lawn in Southern California
Where does it grow? Eg. woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude, etc. What does it grow on? Eg. soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?), etc.

Gills: Pink(?), think it was free (forgot to note this but I don't think it was adnate)
Color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc.

Stem:4-5 cm in length, thin (~0.5 cm), white, hollow, not sure how to describe the texture but I included a picture.
Length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc.

Cap: 3.5 cm, creamy-pinkish color. flat
Diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc.

Spore print color: purplish(?)-brown
Very important!

Bruising: none
Color that the mushroom bruises, if any.

Other information:
Scent of the mushroom, anything else you think is important, large close-up pictures showing stem, cap and gills.

Photos 1,2 and 5 looks like an Agrocybe sp.  I'm not a TI though.  Wait for one to chime in!

trusted identifier

3 & 4 looks like a Coprinellus species, perhaps micaceus

Thanks man!
Yeah, I think 3 and 4 belong in my other thread because other members have suggested the same on that one.
They were growing so close to the one in the other pictures I thought it was the same species.

1-2 is a Psathyrella/Lacrymaria and 3-4 is a Coprinellus

Check out these sweet C micaceus I found pretty much in my front yard not to long ago :smile2:

Thanks TimmiT! It looks like Psathyrella candolleana from the pictures on Wikipedia.
I actually picked off some caps and planted them in my front lawn hoping they would be some kind of actives. haha. so much for that!

Those are some sick looking mature C. micaceus caps groovystoner!
When I went to hunt in the park for the first time about a week ago after the rain, I saw so many of these too! Now I know what they are from looking and comparing the pictures I took from that day.

Man this mushroom hunting is so much fun but is somewhat frustrating living in a place like Southern California where its pretty dry.  Gotta move to NorCal or Oregon!
