Went to golden gate park today and I have to say I'm very dissapointed. People have raped the shit of ggp. I saw holes everywhere where mushrooms were obviously picked and I saw many destroyed mushrooms, quite a sad sight. I got lucky finding a prince and some blewits but couldn't find a single Psilocybe.

What there's a wood blewit and a field blewit? YOu just blew my mind. By blewit I was reffering to Clitocybe nuda, Is there really a difference if it grows in the open or near wood?

Wood blewit is Clitocybe (Lepista) nuda. Field blewit is Clitocybe (Lepista) saeva. I believe they're very similar except for preferring different habitats. I've made failed cloning attempts with both kinds (wood blewit: someone gave me spawn but it turned out to be all mold; field blewit: was traveling, so didn't have agar, and it didn't take to my damp cardboard---got a print, but still waiting on germination) and I really want another chance.

Damn, I wanna find some so bad, I went to GGP yesterday but I am so inexperienced and found nothing. Can't wait for the event on the 7th. Until then does anyone recommend anywhere to hunt? I live in Lower Nob Hill / Tenderloin.

If you read my post from friday you wouldn't have wasted your time. GGP is dead right now and people overpicking shrooms doesn't help. I think were gonna need more rain. This mushroom season is fuckin terrible.

I read your post but the park is 1,017 acres so someone claiming the park is "dead" does nothing for me.

ah yes but, you have to consider that there are a ton of hunters, i'd say for every foot of land there's at least one hunter. sf is known for this kinda thing..EVERYBODY goes to ggp..

Lmao that's what I was going to say but I thought why bother, let him walk around and get some exercise. You have to remember too that its not just an SF thing people will travel a long way just to forage there.

Pretty ridiculous when you consider how much ground there is to cover in the bay area.
