curry-ish fish stew...

Well... I just thought it would be fun to share this story...
a month ago I wandered the super-market wondering what to eat for dinner... Then I got to the seafood stand where they sold a beautyful sea trout... and I decicided to buy half of one, with the head and all.. I also bought some spices, rice, and a couple of bell peppers.....
When I got home, I found my chefs knife, and cut the head of the fish and covered it with water, in order to make a broth.. Now I needed to filet the fish... but then all of a sudden.. i remembered I had lost my fileting knife on my last fishing trip.. something I already knew, but had forgotten in the store..
Thus I proceeded to filet the fish with my stiff chefs knife, which was a disaster for me as I am so spoiled with good equipment. After a good one and a half hour I was finished... together with the broth, and I then poured it aside..
I now proceded to make the curry paste... mixing the herbs and spices, and it seemed all nice and got a wonderful consistency as I went along to put this into a casserole(?). After a nice little while I added the coconut milk, the broth, and the rice. I also added some rice vinegar and soy sauce, in moderate quantities as I would be adjustibg the flavours later.
When the rice seemed to be ok, I added the fish and set it to steep. I now heated a pan with some olive oil and seared the bell-peppers for a few seconds before I add2d them to the stew.
now it was time to taste the stew, and adjust the flavours. To my embarrasing supprise, I had forgot to clean my mortar after powdering Calea Zacatechichi the day before........ if qnyone has tasted the tea made from Calea, they will know...
I had thought the mortar was clean. It looked clean, and I didnt see a hint of powder, even so... a miniscule fragment obviously got into the stew, and it tasted horrifyingly bitter... after a nice redosage with all the other spices... cloaking the fish sadly, the stew became somewhat edible, but even so.... this is not something that will be done twice..
