Can any white rapper live up to the legacy called Shady?
    #19213027 - 12/01/13 02:27 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

I honestly don't think so after listening to his older albums this past week. Been in a shady mood. Does anyone think any white rapper can be as great as he was? Note I said was. His new shit meh. I remember someone tried telling me mac miller would a while ago. I doubt it with all his raps being about smoking bud and suburban white kid problems.

Who in the underground do you think will rise to take the place of slim?

No probably not, but Vinnie Paz is fuckin ill. lol at whoever said Mac Miller. He's not gonna last too long. like my boy says "Yall careers go flat faster that hot soda. Blow up in september all ova by Octoba"

These mainstream one hit wonders are have expiration dates and are starting to smell a lil bit.

I don't think any white or black rapper can live up to it. The hype and different crowds of people he brought to rap when he blew up will never be matched. He has so many loyal diehard fans its riduclous, and a lot of them don't usually listen to rap

I can think of a handful of rappers that are of better quality than him, though they may not be as popular:

Aesop Rock
Eyedea
Brother Ali
RA the Rugged Man
Cage
Edan
Slug
Sage Francis

Cage was all about the sherm. Crazy cat.

Here's one of my favorites with him:

I like his older shit before he "matured" and raps how he does now. Slug is up there but I would not put him on the same level.

Cage supposedly ripped off eminem's "style." They've been fighting back and forth for years. I can't remember the name of the songs off the top of my head, but eminem calls him out quite a bit in his older stuff.

Eminem is a fucking genius. I can't say he's the best "rapper" because they're are so many different styles and genre and you can't really compare him to anyone else..He's definitely near/at the top of my favorite list though. But so are Bone thugs, three 6, tupac, etc.

I dont think there will ever be a "white" rapper as good as eminem. I agree his quality has gone downhill but his first 3 albums were the shit!

Or I guess it's vice versa. Cage is saying eminem ripped him off. One of the songs you can hear him talking about cage is role model.

Rap is terrible. I wish this phase would finally end of course if Kay perry and beiber pop is the next step then let's go backwards till we hit folk and turn back around again.

He's one of the best rappers out right now...

He grew up like 30 mins from where I live.

I just really like his music, his fans are completely crazy, and he's always so hyped.

The problem with tap is that there is rarely any instruments and the rappers never play any. I mean maybe it could be considered poetry with a drone accompaniment?

its called hip hop

rap is akin to an instrument.

hip hop is the genre

guitar music doesnt make much sense

as much sense as rap music makes.

rap is a tool used most often in hip hop music.

There are plenty of good white rappers out there.  Eminem's legacy is only as good as you make of it.  I'm not really into his stuff (though it can be catchy), but there are other white rappers I enjoy, however their styles are completely different.

A lot draws on instrumental samples from classic funk and R&B type shit. More live instrumentals wold be cool though.
