I really dislike calling wins like that (for either Ohio State or Auburn) lucky. Lucky wins are when fluke shit happens. If you lose because your FG kicker blows or your coach makes a bad call or whatever else that's not lucky; that's being better than the other team.

Maybe if you're looking at the Iron Bowl as a whole but on that last play it was fucking raining four leaf clovers in Auburn. Same with that Georgia game.

Nice, I am looking forward to seeing OSU vs. FSU in the national championship

As long as OSU can beat Michigan State

It would be a crime against humanity if a 1-loss SEC team got into the national championship over 2 other undefeated teams, IF that is how it finishes up

Agreed.

I thought Danielson had the most apropos comment: There simply weren't any athletes on the field for Alabama, they were all fat guys. Blockers. It was just a strange call!

No athletes on the field for Alabama?  I am going to ask you to clarify that before I decide you are dumber than KP.

Danielson said it and I agree with it. Saban put in his biggest, best blockers to stop a block. They couldn't make the play. It wasn't the same special teams players as a kickoff or punt. And plus, you're taking my "athlete" a bit too seriously. You know exactly what I meant.

No it would not be a crime at all. It would be a the worst fucking national championship of all time to even try and proclaim that FSU or Ohio State are the “national champion”

Guess the BCS is trying to go out with a bang.
___

Of course you like a terrible call that lets your team win :lolsy:
Dude was trying to be ballsy, no problems with that, but when it doesn’t work you gotta answer for it. If you read my post my problem with the 2 point conversion was the play call itself. Power I that bitch all day.

So Auburn was lucky but OSU wasn’t... duuuude

Oh how sweet is that irony. Didn’t the buckeyes get in over unbeaten Boise to just get obliterated???

Every rational person would take Auburn AND Bama over OSU, They are better teams that have played and beat better teams all year long, bottom line. Shit ild take MIzzou over turns should be blowouts into winning by the skin of the teeth OSU. Atleast Auburn wins their tight games against good teams.

OSU fans calling anyone else lucky is hilarious. The only respectable team they’ve beat(and had on their schedule) this year is Wisconsin, and Wisconsin is in a rebuilding year with a brand new coach

Okay friend, now you're just putting words in my mouth.
Quote:

jewunit said:

And no, I don't like the call because my team won. I explained why I like the call. I'm actually a fairly objective viewer when it comes to sports. It may be hard for you to believe, but I am. You can ask my roommates or my friends from my hometown (who all like to see Ohio State lose). I thought we were going to lose that game at half. I also said "oh fuck if they go for this we will lose" before they lined up. I thought it was the right decision. Plenty of scUM fans thought it was the right decision. They had a better chance of winning that game on that two point conversion than winning that game in overtime.

And no, not every rational person would take Auburn or Bama over OSU for the title game. That's fucking ridiculous. Take some heed from a professional hater; you only think the things you do about sports because you late hate cloud your judgement. You demonstrate that time and again in these threads. You even admit to it from time to time. I can dig it, but don't try and play it off like it's the "rational" thing to think when it's quite the opposite.

For example:
Quote:

elax420 said:

This point is fucking bogus. Ohio State has played three national championships during the BCS era, and only one time did they have one loss (in what was one of the craziest and most awesome college football seasons that has occurred since I've been alive). So yes, the Buckeyes made it into a national championship one time when Boise State was undefeated, but we were also undefeated and the number one team in the country and beat a number 2 Michigan team in an amazing game to close out the season. In fact there was legitimate national debate on whether we should play Michigan again for the title instead of Florida. Did we fucking blow dicks against Florida that year? Absolutely. Is there any irony involved? No.

If you want to take up qualms with an undefeated Boise State team getting left out of the national championship then take it up with Florida, because at that point Boise State already demonstrated that they belonged with the big boys (and I never even thought that's something that required proving) and Florida was a one loss team. You won't though, because that would totally take away from your point of how a one-loss SEC team should play for the national championship. Or maybe it wouldn't, because an SEC team won (the first in the stretch btw). I just fail to understand what point you're trying to make when you bring up Boise State, Ohio State fan's irony, and whatever the fuck else you're trying to say. You just create your own narratives, that's what I've learned over the last two years of banter in these threads.

And yes, I recognize we need to beat MSU before any of this discussion even becomes relevant. But please, continue to let the hate flow through you.

Disagree with this entirely "They had a better chance of winning that game on that two point conversion than winning that game in overtime.”
I still don’t think it was a bad idea, just the play call was shit. in general i seriously dislike passing on the goalie, especially in college. Shotgun on the goal line literally pains me(unless you do that weird like power running shotgun formation SF does with 2 backs and like a guard lined up as a tightend in the backfield).

I don’t see anyone outside of Ohio that would pick them over a Bama or Auburn, especially with the quality of teams they struggle with, and how poorly their defense plays/how one dimensional their offense is. Get a real QB you fucks (OSU and UM)

FSU/OSU will be another terrible National Championship, the last good one was Texas/USC, and thats all i have to say about that.

I will give OSU some credit, i love the fuck out of your running back even with that fumble. Seems like the fucker is going full van wilder though  he’s gotta be a 5th or 6th year.
_____

USC got worked tonight :lolsy: UCLA really pisses me off, they have to be the biggest under performer in the college game outside of UGA. So much talent but their line is shit and their QB is bipolar. This was really their year to win the pac 12 and they shit the bed.  Their Defensive end #99 is as big of an impact player as they come but no one is talking about him, been watching him straight beast for awhile.

Yeah I can dig not liking the play call. I'm not a very big fan of narrow calls in situations like that. It's one thing when it's second down and a totally different thing when you only have one shot.

As a coach myself though I guess I can kinda see the reasoning. You're essentially saying I think this play will work, and I don't trust my kid to have many options. When it backfires you take a lot of the blame, but that's part of your job. Gardener really isn't that good though. The option worked the majority of the time they ran it in that same situation, but the most recent time and after halftime adjustments we totally shut it down, so Borges probably felt more comfortable going with a pass play.

But Borges has sucked all year. They had to have had something that gave Gardener a few more options than just "okay, here's the play, pass it to this dude!" without giving him too much to think about and still a couple easy routes. I dunno, it's tough to say. Going for two in that situation is obscure enough that you probably aren't thinking too in depth about the play you run. I've definitely been in that situation before (granted with MUCH lower stakes ) where I'm just like "Alright, I think I can mind game them simply by doing something different, and if I try and do anymore I'm just putting my kids in a position to fail".

Still though, I respect Hoke and Borges for going for it.

Maybe when I'm not trashed I'll take on your other points. Doubt it though, it gets a bit fucking boring and frustrating saying the same thing over and over again. Not to you, but just in general.

Though your thing about Hyde is weird. This is only his third year, and he wasn't even talked about THAT much until last year. Aaron Craft is usually the butt of all these jokes (and god damn does that shit get old real quick).

Oh i agree with you dude, Gardener isn’t very good at all. He missed some pretty big throws, thats part of the reason why i hate putting the whole game on his arm.

You definitely have a call made up in your mind for something of that importance, I’m not a coach in any way (kick ass at madden :derfase:) but i have thought long and hard about goaline defense and offense just by being a football fan. my favorite play is this if you have to go with a throw

You can also never go wrong with a PA bootleg, but he was immobile as fuck at that point.

Dude im not from that region at all, so pardon me for not knowing the cliche shit. I swear that Hyde dude took a nasty knee injury a few years ago? I really like Backs, especially big bruisers and once one makes an impression i don’t forget it. Im just a big fan of Power Football in general. I can respect the way OSU made michigan look so soft defensively, but their defense was so bad. They stood strong when they needed it but damn....

Michigan State has got such a nasty run defense, Braxton miller is gonna have to pass, and that won’t be easy either. We will see if MSU can get any offense going. Should be a tight one.

Even as a Michigan fan, I dont have a problem with the call.... we were essentially playing for nothing and had a chance to ruin our biggest rivals perfect season..

OSU definitely deserves to be in the national championship if they beat #10 Michigan State next weekend

What I want to know is what happens if Missouri beats Auburn, where does that leave Bama, Missouri and OSU (if they beat state)?

Shits about to get interesting...

And elax auburn has been getting lucky all year....look at the freaking UGA game....if you think there's no "luck" involved in that outcome then fine.... but im telling you they are fucking lucky. It's not a bad thing, and a little luck is required to beat Bama.... I just don't want them jumping any unbeaten for the sugar bowl....

Gus Malzahn is the truth tho....he was the Offensive cord behind cam newton and he runs a great run-heavy, gimmicky offense. I don't know if he's the dude fpr Auburn to lean on long term, but we'll see.

What kind of idiot coach would sacrifice blocking to defend against a returned field goal and they weren't all behemoths.

Considering that's the fifth time a missed FG has been returned for a TD EVER IN THE HISTORY OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL I think I'm with Zappa on this.

If we beat MSU and Auburn beats Mizzou it looks like Auburn will in all likelihood jump us, even if we are a unanimous #2 in human polls.

How was the bama game luck??? An awesome individual effort is luck now? I get UGA but shit UGA still had a solid chance to win it and they fucked up.

A lot of luck is required to win any championship. Look at the fucking heat in the NBA. OSU was lucky as fuck to get a ridiculously easy schedule.

cut this injustice bullshit out too, none of yall were saying that back when non AQ schools were kicking ass and taking names.

Michigan fans cheering for OSU is pretty fucking funny too.
