Habitat: Where does it grow? cow field in dung
Gills: Color browny black, please see pics
Stem: Length approx 6cm thin stem
Cap: as per picture
Spore print color: currently printing
Bruising: Blue Blac
Fairly sure they are pan cyan but would like to be sure. Any comments would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

really? i have great area that i hunt and its nothing but horses, its a wooded area that has ALOT of dung enriched soil. i find tons of P.cubensis, and a few cints and lots of ants, but have yet to find any Panaelous cyans there yet. i was under the impression that cyans prefer cow dung over the horse poo? anyone have any opinions? there are so many antillirums, so i figure that some of them may actually be copes. does anyone have any luck finding them around horses? dont mean to hijack the thread. im just curious.

Panaeolus cyanescens are more likely to show up on cattle rather than horse dung, but I've occasionally found them from dung in horse stables. Panaeolus cyanescens will readily bruise blue, making it easily distinguishable from Panaeolus antillarum.

thanks midnight. the only probalems i have with finding the cyans among the the ants is the sheer numbers of P. antillarum that grow there. i mean literally hundreds, so i was really wondering if it was common enough in horse poo to justify trying to weed through the inactives. but it sounds like it could be worth a shot. im sure could ID one once i found it. thanks again for the info. gives me hope for next season

You're welcome
Weeding through the inactive Panaeolus species is easy once you get the hang of it, just takes practice and attention to detail.
