Peyote tastes awful

Just coughed down an ounce of dried peyote, possibly the most awful thing I've ever put down my throat.
I looked up some recipes before but decided to just munch and wash down with OJ. The bitter taste lingers so much
A photo of what I munched:

Oh well. Let the magic begin!

Have you eaten peyote before? Have you eaten bridgesii before?

To anyone that knows, how many inches of bridgesii would an ounce of dried peyote compare to?

This would be a tough question to answer for anyone as mescaline content in cacti is highly variable. My vendor couldn't even tell me how old my peyote was prior to harvest, but judging from the size they couldn't have been more than 3-4 years old.

Really bad, and it's hard to wash down because the bitterness lingers so much on your tongue. Can't get rid of it.

i think you can grind it to coarse powder, then soak it overnight in vodka, then pound it in a glass with OJ and chase with more OJ...

The pic doesn't look like dried peyote to me at all. Resembles dried incense chips from columnar cacti. Look closely and the pieces are missing the characteristic "hair" tufts and vascular ring on the underside of the button.

There were these white fluffy hairs all over most of the buttons. Granted that you can only see a photo of moderate quality from a single angle, you might be wrong. Also, sacred cacti are 100% legal in Canada, not hard to obtain at all.
The trip was quite a different experience. Initially after choking it down, I felt a really heavy load on my body, similar to a body high (together with the stomach ache), but I soon forgot about that as I entered into this speedy psychedelic state. Visuals were not overly intense, I would categorize at similar to 2-3g of shrooms. I spent the first 3-4 hours of the trip in self-analysis, learning so much about myself. I was also in my living room, which is decorated with psychedelic art and candles which was an excellent place to start the trip. However at T+6 hours I left the house and spent the rest of the trip on the beach, the afterglow was such a warming feeling, like light yet obvious chakra flowing through my body.
Overall, I feel like I should have taken more, on a level of 1-5 in terms of psychedelic chaos it was a solid 2.5, but the taste is not welcoming at all. I'm considering obtaining mescaline HCL sometime early next year, that's a thought.

Mannnnnn I'm jealous! I want to experiment with cacti so badly. Glad your trip was a good one. I think I'll go through the hassle of some sort of tek where I don't have to taste it, even if I have to go through the hassle of encapsulating like hundreds of capsules of cactus. I get nauseated from tastes easily but once things are in my stomach I usually do alright.
Kratom always helps my stomach stay calm too, and my mind. Kava if my mind needs some extra help

.
I was just going off initial observation, sorry. Couldn't see any tufts from that angle and the tan colored inside of some of your pieces with the green edges reminded me a lot of trichocereus incense.

even at one angle with a fuzzy pic it's easy to tell what this is:

I've read that the natives chew it and hold it in their mouth but do not swallow it.
