*shakes head*
Never said they were. OP asked how vendors do their prints, I told him Sometimes it is possible to answer a question without making a big thing outta it.
Fact, many people use foil to print. Fact, there are ways to print on foil that is quite clean, even sterile is not out of reach. I sterilize the foil I use to print before I print it and only because I like to cut it too shape before printing. Otherwise that's not even necessary. Even though I would never consider my prints to be sterile, as I fruit in open air, I have yet to get a contam on a plate inoculated from a print I took myself. Regardless, I have used agar to successfully clean up many a filthy print that I have received from members here and sponsors alike. Its pretty much the whole point to agar. Bio Handling has nothing to do with it at that point. Ever clone from the wild or work with a wild print? Someone had to at some point or none of us would be growing shit.

THE biggest issue with this hobby is cost prohibitive. You come here preaching about bio-handling etc (Not just on this thread) and it only equates to higher costs, or overly complicated methods.
Anne: Individuals have claimed to have brought back prints that were over a decade old from foil. How many decades more does a slide last? WHY exactly IS a slide better than a sterile piece of foil?
Tin foil works great for long term. Conditions that the prints are kept in are probably more important than the material the print is on.

Foil is sterile on the roll. It is the perfect spore print medium, and it's readily available and cheap as hell.

fractaldill, you can also use wide mouth 1/4 pint mason jars to take a spore print. Just take a spore print as usual inside the cleaned jar and seal the jar with it's lid after the print has been taken.

Lol, considering they run businesses surrounding the sending of spores and you don't..
I'm gonna follow what a vendor does instead

My question is, where do you get the thick shit? I usually just get the bigass costco roll for most of my foil needs but I would love some of the thick stuff just to make prints with.

It's labeled as "heavy duty" aluminum foil.
I'm sure you can get it in bulk.

If you can't get it in bulk, you should definitely look at another store...like sam's club

Don't think we have that up here in my neck o the woods but I'm gonna be on the lookout for that foil regardless. My biggest complaint with printing has been pretty much the thin foil.
