spawning contaminated cake to outdoors - possible in winter?
    #19209287 - 11/30/13 04:56 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

ok so i have a clearly contaminated BRF cake, inoculated with cubensis. If it's possible to use that for this purpose id like to do so. i'm almost right between hardiness zones 7 & 8, so im fairly sure from my searches this means it's possible to do in my area, correct?

one of my questions, reason for posting this, is im wondering if a frost may kill the mycelium as it's december? should i wait until early spring, or another time of year?

also with a clearly contaminated cake should i be burying anything else with it like i would with a non-contaminated one, or would this just be taken over by the mold/contamination? (im guessing that's what it is, gray stuff growing on the outside, hardly any visible mycelium anymore)

so should i try burying it at this time of year, and with any additional substrate? any material in particular better for contaminated cakes?

apologies if these questions have been answered, i did search but found only info on
woodlovers rather than cubensis.

I have had no luck planting contaminated cakes, done it twice with no results.
It would seem like planting it now is your best shot instead of waiting. If you really want to,
you could also run some water on the cake and toss some verm on it.
