If by food processor you mean the propeller blades type then yeah that will work fine.

Is it better to use the stuff you have to chop? I've just been using powdered sugar right off the web

Shouldn't make a difference. Agar is agar.

A friend let me take some transfers from his "Trinity" plate, I've never seen cubensis myc like this before! It's so silky looking.. excited to grow it out.

He also let me get a drop or two from his LC syringes: Ghost, APE, ODPE, RW, Fiji. They all ran fine and I'll post after transferring to get some uniformity.
Enoki clone from the store:

I also bought two varieties of king oyster (one from china, one from korea), shiitake, and maitake. All were successful except the maitake, it didn't run for shit. I just did transfers and I'll post those when they grow out.
Got my APE swab to germ

And my favorite looking GT plate I've been transferring since spore print. Maybe one or two more transfers and I'll start messing with it.

Please excuse my dirty ass hands.. was too excited to share
Thanks again to everyone that has contributed to making agar super-user-friendly. I like that I can reuse these many times too

I have 4oz mason jars, and have a few questions to make sure I'm not wasting my precious few materials on my ignorance. Should I flip my lids over? I've read other posts say that I dont need to poke holes in my lids or anything if I just loosen them a little bit, is this true? I have micropore tape, if I need to poke holes, does that suffice? I'm a single parent on a tight budget. I've acquired what I do have to use over a period of about 8 months, so failure will hurt the pockets hard. Thanks in advance!

I'm really looking forward to trying your tek. I just got my agar supplies.
Not that you would remember me, (even If I could remember my old login ID) I'm glad you are still around shroomery.
Hope you are well gg66802

I always fail with plastic ones and I cant figure out to this day what seems to be the problem.
I go the glass route. Nice glass. Where did you get those?

It’s fine, the mycelium doesn’t need the solids. You could strain it if you wanted but I never worry about it.

If you’re worried about clear agar it’s a drawback. I’m not concerned about seeing through the agar myself. If you want super awesome visibility then do pour agar instead.

Either works but if you decide to poke holes in the lids double up on the micropore to cover it.

Use a flashlight to check plates and I always make a final decision once in the SAB. Sometimes at the last minute one might or might not make the cut.

Oh yeah, the flashlight of the phone is an integral part of the hobby, it wouldn't be the same without it. Plates, spawn, tubs... use it for everything! haha

For real.
My first year most of my phone battery was for using the flashlight to look at jars.

I’m using a big ass flashlight, phone don’t cut it. Something you can club a seal with is necessary.
