When making up the agar, bring the water to a rolling boil, remove from heat and immediately pour in the agar and malt extract (I prefer light malt extract) wisk until all ingredients are dissolved and then pour into the plates just enough to cover the bottom.

I have holes covered with micropore tape on the sides of these plates so I don't have to use aluminum foil. However, I get a lot of standing water from condensation and it been more than a week since I made these plates and the water still hasn't evaporated. Will that cause contamination or any issues?

Yeah I pour it out the SAB whenever I need to use it. But I realized that when I tilt the plate and where the standing water was, the surface looked different than the surface of the agar that had no standing water. I don't think it's bacteria or anything because it doesn't spread and there isn't any discoloration.

The black line is all the standing water after I tilt the plate. The yellow is the surface that had no standing water. The blue is the surface that had standing water prior to me tilting the plate to one side. The red is what I'm talking about how the surface looks different than the surface without any standing water. My guess is there's still a very thin layer of water? It doesn't seem to go away even when I tilt the plate for over 10 minutes, hoping that all the water will slide down to one side.

Way too much agar in there, my experience with standing water is weak mycellium or contams.

Next time you pour, use a standard baking tablespoon(15ml), that's all it takes to put a plate to good use.

This plate is more full than the others because it was the last of my batch and I didn't have any other empty plates to use.

Why do we even need holes on these if GE isn't to much of an issue for plates.
