Is it possible to microwave glad plates post pc cook. Some of mine ended up more slanted than I would like? Can I just cover the micropore tape with scotch and throw them in the microwave to reheat the agar ?

Idk if that would get hot enough why not just do a short PC run like 15 minutes and take them out still hot. Or just use the slanted ones like I do.

Why are you showing the bottom of the plates mold usually shows on the top.

5/3 Someone done poisoned the water hole! Ok so... My agar prep has to be wrong or something because most of my agar dishes exploded with mold but not on the surface, on the underside of the agar puck?
This was taken out of the fridge 2 days...!

Then it's probably not mold and just something in the agar. Like other people have said. Was everything dissolved when you put it in? Maybe you caramelized some of the sugars at the bottom pressure cooking too long idk. I don't get what the big deal is growings not that serious just knock it up see what happens or make more.

You could be right and im tripping over nothing. Thatd be cool. My first plates went green but i didnt cook the mix together that time. Now its just the dots on the bottom. I think ill be good
If its a usual thing to have some stuff in the bottom like I'm seeing now thats good. I'm over here throwing plates out for not being perfect looking like on the forums

You may try formulating the mix from a better recipe rather than blaming pasty tek. Also make sure waters cole when you mix the stuff in. For some stupid reason my premixed stuff had the opposite of correct directions lol it said mix I n.v after boiling well those plates were very foggy lol

I feel like heat would only change the speed of diffusion not the result.

Does your agar thicken up after a PC cycle after I switched to LME my agar is really watery to gooey and isn't stiffening I used more than enough agar though?

Once you pc it it’ll take like 40 minutes to cool but it goes from liquid to chunky solid very quickly. Like you’ve got a one minute window between perfect thick liquid and pouring crushed ice size chunks.
Seems like the nute you used wouldn’t matter though since it’s the agar that hardens.

I'm talking about before I PC it, its usually alot stiffer before I pcthis time it's not. I'm not pouring either since it's pasty plates. I'm not sure if I should do it over or if it my stoffen after the PC run.

Same thing happened to me when i didnt cook my ingredients with enough heat to homogenize it together. If u used enough agar but its still liquidy before u pc it it means u didnt cook it hot enough, thats fine. It'll cook when u pc it and it will harden then. I like cooking mine hot before i fill em just so its a bit easier and not so quick to fill the plates.

Yeah i did the same thing! This tek write up is wrong in that way it's gotta be a bit hot at least medium. I turned my burner to LO 1/10 the first time and it WAS NOT enough. Half my plates came out as water and the other half reaaaal thick
Hopefully it doesnt bite you like it did me. Good luck! If anything just a bit hotter next time. I like to tilt the pot and see if anything is settling at the bottom for good measure now. And i wait to see some steam and a few bubbles come up.
