have you watched the video about holding the plates upside down? doing so might give you better results while you are still building your skill in your sterile working area.

I have, but I used a spore syringe which would have been hard to put on an upside down plate. When I do my first transfers or any spore swabs, I plan on following the videos you've posted.

Just wanted to share how I've been doing pasty's tek (not sure if my method has been figured out before, but oh well here is it anyway )
Pasty's always working hard answering questions in my thread with his trusted expertise, so I thought I'd add my humble tiny bit of experience in his thread too. (thanks pasty, you really are one of the hardest working TIs, I come back from a party on saturday night to check up on shroomery and you're here writing paragraphs upon paragraphs explaining BRF to noobs. GEEEEEZ. I'd give ya an award if I could )
ANYWAY on to the point
I use quart jars as an outer shell to balance out my agar and protect them from condensation.
My polyfill and paper towels are always moisture free when they come out of the pressure cooker.
Since I do my PC cycles at night, I only wait until morning and they are ready, perfect for use.
As shown in the pictures below.

Condensation on the walls are normal, but the agar is always flat, perfect and no pools at all.
Hope it helps those interested!
Sara

I have a question about this tek. I want to save money on petri dishes and was gonna give this ago. I believe i have found what I need to use my only issue is there was a huge warning on the box about using with heat and I want to make sure that these will be okay before I buy the store out of them.

And here is the warning

Grey what do you mean? That plate was after the PC cycle fresh from last night. I made it just for demonstration along with the others to do this 3rd transfer for the Pan cincts.

Did you toss it right after you took the picture? (Did any bacteria bloom on it?)
It's a nice pasty plate, btw.

Misting cakes requires knowing if you mist them directly or at a distance, etc. If these things melted this whole thread would be one of the longest running troll attempts I've ever seen.
