No they can keep for a few months usually depending on how dry your climate is. But I would bet they are still good.

syringes, and liquid techniques aren't for the beginner that's for sure. It's best to go around the world cultivating mushrooms using proven staple methods such as agar, and g2g first. Once you get your methods and procedures down pact with the staples, then it's safe to slowly, and on a small scale begin to experiment with liquid culturing and inoculation techniques.

i think my past may have corrupted me. For some reason I thought that growing mushrooms would be like riding a bike but after 5 years I seem to have lost my magic touch. i blame the drugs and my huge ego (i am not at all responsible)

Excited to see how the lc likes the agar I made, my concerns are "what spore do I really have", did I remove the lid too long and wide" and the bit of condensation in the dish, will it create problems.with growth... I say that because after I dropped 3 drops and tilted the dish level, condensation drops rolled over the lc drop.

I have done the honey LC but why when liquid Malt is so cheap and works so good. As far as protein powder goes we don't even need that shit so why would mushrooms. Stick to the tried and true, many before you have done the experiments and proven teks so we don't have to waste time and supplies.

It would be a waste just letting it sit there. You're telling me that you never get bored and just start exploring what concoctions you can conjure up, pasty? I would find that hard to believe since I feel so much freedom just to explore all limitations of mushrooms. If it weren't for that, I would probably get a little bored of this hobby. These stupid little things keep me excited..

Oh I agree. I keep forgetting to by a box of rice krispys as that's one I been wanting to try for a while. The only utter fail was tapioca starch, worse than useless.

I'm glad you said that. I almost bought a bag of tapioca starch from my Asian market.

Pasty is the man! These effing plates rock and you can use different food coloring for different strains.
I'm going on a 2 week vacation starting on the 4th. I JUST spored up some plates. 3/6 are showing growth. how long can these keep just out in the open and also can you keep them in the fridge to retard the growth and use later?

I've left mine out at room temp for 2-3 weeks without ill effect. Yes you can keep them in the fridge, I just put them in a ziploc freezer bag and then into a lunch box and keep it in the vegetable chiller.

Been six days, just checked them today and there's something going on, I just find difficult to see through the top and what I see from the side is hard to distinguish with my unexperienced eye... Rhe one plate looks interesting, it looks like a wet Kleenex laying the agar right across the whole surface, and there's a long rope going through like a carpet pushed together creating a round bunch.

Post a pic.
I didn't use a paper towel or cotton round this time. This little guy sucked up some water.
