I'm about to do this and am curious about the corn syrup. When he says add a drop, is that a figure of speech or does he literally mean a drop?

No, he really means a drop, if you happen to get a hair more, I think you will be ok,I'm almost 100% on.

Ok, thanks Iam. I did like 2 drops in the first batch I made and 1 in the second, so I should be okay. My batches came out way smaller though even though I was pretty accurate with the measurements. I had to make 2 batches to get 8 little cups worth. Only time will tell!

You probably used too much then, this recipe is perfect for 8 mini rounds. You just have to cover the bottom of the round.
I use two drops of honey usually though, but i usually make a quadruple batch for 32 plates so

So... I didn't use the search function before using my "Durapore" tape. I felt the word "pore" meant it would breathe...

Omnicracker said: i just bought some of the transpore tape yesterday, and i the same dilema, but its not that complicated.
Durapore is not breathable, so dont use it. Transpore is breathable, plastic, and its also stretchy and easy to use. Micropore is also breathable, but the tape itself was paper tape, i thought that would be bad.
i bought tht transpore and it didnt hold up on the PC. go with the mircopore, paper cant melt. i was using it for LC and i thoght that the paper might get soggy when i shook the jar.
I found this in a search.

If I was to use this tek with petri dishes would you still pressure cook the dishes?

Make your agar in a bottle, PC, then pour your agar into dishes in a SAB or in front of a flow hood. But this is the NO pour method.

Why is it called the no pour method when you pour it?

Well, with this tek I scooped with a spoon. I guess that's not pouring. I guess I got confused by what Mr. Giraffe said. Perhaps he explained the 'pour method' in the first sentence and then "But this is the NO pour method" was referring to Pasty's tek?

I just took mine out of PC and they had condensation all throughout. I guess I didn't let them cool enough? I brought the pressure cooker up to 15PSI as slow as I could. They were all a bit damp on the bottom which I guess is normal if condensation is present. Into the fridge they go.
Is there a way to tell if everything went smoothly other than inoculating and looking?

yeah giraffe explained to the other dude how to use plastic petris. and then told him this is not a plastic petris tek.
pour = pour agar after its PC'd no pour = PC agar in separate containers.
the agar mix wont magically go from your pot to the containers so in that sense you gotta pour it (or spoon it)

I gotcha. Is there anything that much better about using the pour method vs no pour?

The pour method into disposable petri dishes has better clarity as opposed to looking through the blue lid, or opaque pp5 container. No pour is definitely where it's at if you're an agar rookie, good way to get your feet wet. There are condensation issues with both ways.
