No question about it...I neglected this plate. Hopeful for something - transferred strong sections to ~7 dishes last night, even though I am way way late (i know). Crazy how random plates take off sometimes...

nulls said: Just wanted to say thanks for writing up this tek! Just did my first A2A transfer (first time at this hobby period) using this tek*. Pasty to Pasty if you will. Hot dog, 24 hours after transfer the growth is exploding, and even the plates I cut from appear to have accelerated growth although maybe I'm just excited. Inoculated first pasty plates from MS syringe in my SAB, but when I did my transfers I also tried my hand at print to pasty of a different strain of cube. This is so fun! Granted I failed at my first attempt but I was happy with what I learned and am determined to get it right with the help of the incredible resources available to me here at shroomery.
*I have been using a cheap digital instapot wannabe, however I am awaiting the arrival of a new Presto 23qt stovetop PC so I am excited to not have to PC 3 plates at a time for 3 hours each until the cows come home. Then I'll be officially pasty-ish or something.
Quick tip.. put a small splash of white vinegar in when you use the presto.. helps keep it from building up white crap all over the inside.
what are those white crap you speak of? I see tons of it in my antique 21Q AA canner... it develops tons of white crap more so when I leave the canner for a long time...

You got this, remember to never let your hands get above/over your plates.

Are you in the US? Places like Wal-Mart, target, and other big box stores have them.

Just got back from Walmart and they only had the small size (2 cups) and not the mini. Maybe they just need to stock up?

Sometimes they’re just in a different aisle. For whatever reason in my local Walmart they’re not with the rest of the Tupperware. If not you could try ordering them online.

Yea I searched around and couldn't find them, the walmart website only had the small size listed. I'll check the Target and a different Walmart to see what they have, though!

If you have them in your area, I consistently find the Betty Crocker minis at Dollar Tree. They also sometimes have 50ml centrifuge tubes in the craft section, if you plan on making slants.

The “white crap” is hard water deposits. Your water, most likely, contains high levels of calcium and or lime. It’s pretty common where I’m from. I can confirm that adding a cap full of white vinegar to you pc prior to using it will cut down on the white crap. It will also leave your grain jars crystal clear. When I forget to add vinegar my jars are covered in a chalky film.

I’ll check these out! Thanks for the tip! I’m gonna use my half pint jars if I can’t find any... my fruits are growing up and I want to place a tissue sample on agar!

Do you guys think that these would work as a substitute? Benefit I would see would be clear top lid, con would be the lids are kinda tricky to get off. Thoughts,
