I'm gonna have to look for those.. i have been using small glass jars which i love, but they are quilted on the sides makes seeing what's going on a pain in the ass

Pp5, flat bottom, sturdier lid (so likely less warping) less texturing on the sides and bottom for better visibility, and screw tops for a better fit longer. The snap ons have a tendency to stop fitting well after a few cycles.
Oh yeah, and perfect locking stacking, the bottom fits inside the raised outer lip of the lid of one underneath it. Great for storage of not-yet-used plates and long-term in the fridge.
Already threw one through a PC cycle just to make sure it was going to hold up, and now I'm going to buy every one I can find.

ZOMG the lids stack perfectly too for storage of empty containers. Theres even enough of a lip around the top of the lid that you could polyfill a hole and they'd still stack nicely for empty storage (although not as nicely on top of each other with the lid on, but that would block GE anyway). Not relevant for me because I'm all sfd all the time now (seriously, if you havent tried them, do...) but useful anyway.
I seriously love everything about these. It's almost like winco said "hey, people are using these ziploc mini round things for mycology, but there are some issues with them. Let's fix all that and release our own mini containers."

Only question from here is how well they hold up to multiple cycles, and if the seal warps enough to cause failures, but they seem about the same durability as the bigger screw-top containers.

They are all I use, I've had great success with them.

Personally, I've settled on the vent port in the side near the top. Saves a lot of foil and time wrapping them. Not sure about completely unmodified, but I have had the aluminum foil alone make a good enough seal to implode them, even with the port in the lid

oh, I totally forgot, I dont use plastic containers anymore so implosion wouldnt be an issue, I only use short glass jars, and its a pain in the ass to drill, which is why I was wondering if it would be ok unmodified. maybe just do half and half to actually see it for myself. thanks for the quick response though

Just wanted to say thanks for writing up this tek! Just did my first A2A transfer (first time at this hobby period) using this tek*. Pasty to Pasty if you will. Hot dog, 24 hours after transfer the growth is exploding, and even the plates I cut from appear to have accelerated growth although maybe I'm just excited. Inoculated first pasty plates from MS syringe in my SAB, but when I did my transfers I also tried my hand at print to pasty of a different strain of cube. This is so fun! Granted I failed at my first attempt but I was happy with what I learned and am determined to get it right with the help of the incredible resources available to me here at shroomery.
*I have been using a cheap digital instapot wannabe, however I am awaiting the arrival of a new Presto 23qt stovetop PC so I am excited to not have to PC 3 plates at a time for 3 hours each until the cows come home. Then I'll be officially pasty-ish or something.

Quick tip.. put a small splash of white vinegar in when you use the presto.. helps keep it from building up white crap all over the inside.

I am about to make some of these awesome little doo hickies (pasty plates), but my question is: I have a tub that is knotting, no pins or fruit yet and I am expecting them to begin in a week or 2. If I make these plates, which I want to use for cloning, I can let them sit in room temp in ziplock bag for a few weeks? Or should I fridge?? And if friged, how much to let it sit in room temp prior to using it?

they'll be fine in room temp without foil or a ziplock.

Although drilling through metal lids is just as fast as plastic, use something as a backer for either material, and it will help make the hole cleaner and the process quicker . I can drill 12 lids in ~30 seconds easily

Thanks for the tip! I'm in the middle of my first cycle right now with some pasty plates, but from now on I will as I keep it around for laundry, light bathroom cleaning, etc.

Vinegar doesnβt really have anything to do with pasty plates though. When youβre using glass mason jars, vinegar helps a lot. I always add a couple tablespoons per cook.

I did 3 as a test run and they turned out fine. But i was worried the whole time so fuck it. The work of making the lids is worth the piece of mind for me.

Chances are that was mostly high fructose corn syrup anyway. Karo is corn syrup. You will probably be fine If it was actual pure maple syrup than I imagine it would work well , but I'm just guessing
