It's premium sponsor MEA, I was originally gonna pour petris and my damn whiskey bottle wouldn't fit in PC, so mason jarred the bitch in the fridge and used the MEA for the pasty plates.

How did you pour set agar? Did you give it a hot water bath?

When I made it up for the initial pour it was in hot distilled water. Ofc, in the fridge there was some settlement of sediment but I found a good shake between each mini round did just fine. It wasn't in the fridge very long.

Was it solid before you put the lids on? I wait for it to stop steaming all together

It was liquid, solidifies when it reaches a certain temperature. It's premium/sponsor premixed MEA.
Quite possible the telephone agar is better for this method condensation wise, I had considered that, but it still worked. At this point it's on me for sterile technique.
JHOVA's recommendation to remove the liquid with a light flick is very logical in my situation.

Let it solidify first is all I'm saying. I have never used telephone agar, it should work regardless of brand

I wonder how hot this needs to be to solidify, I just ran the bottle under hot water for 15 mins and shook it well, but once it was in the fridge it was below room temperature and still wasn't solidifying - I used a digital scale at the proper ratio. They look fine now that they are PC'ed, as they should, minus the condensation.
Any technique for doing this w/ MEA hygroscopic powder?

I'll give this a go on my next set, I appreciate the input; I wouldn't have known otherwise.
edit: I went and bought 8 more mini rounds, so I'll be giving this a shot sometime this week - starting a new job or I'd do it tomorrow.

I always have condensation in mine, but it normally goes away with 3-5 day.

Yeah people get too hung up on the condesation it seriously doesn't affect anything unless you have an actual puddle on your agar.

Yeah it's never caused any problems so far. I love the simplicity of this tek. Thank you man. This made jumping into agar so much easier.

stacking is fine but can get messy quick if you try to stack too high.
i can't see any reason brf agar wouldn't work but have never done it.

Of course it works, it's a standard recipe, the container has nothing to do. You can stack mini rounds but the lids weren't made with that in mind, they have grooves so they don't stack well. I wouldn't stack more than 3 or 4, they can topple easily if you stack more than that.

After they cool and are solidified, store them upside down. You can even tap them lightly to knock the condensation down to pool on the lid, crack the lid slightly with the tab pointing down to release the water from inside the plate. Petri plates or pastey plates should never be stored where anything can settle on the agar surface. I even store my noc'd up plates upside down, I've only had one transfer fall off out of hundreds.

Did 10 transfers (4 syzygy, 6 penis envy) from my first 5 plates, did a botched blenderless inoculant (wrong lid, rofl) with the 6th puck I used to test my LC for cleaniness, it was clean, and the tubs from the spawn are colonizing nicely - first time agar confirmed something for me before I spawned a tub!
The transfers all look like they are recovering nicely after a few days, went with a little blue food coloring this time. I did some by scalpel, some with an inoc loop. I am going to use this other apparatus I don't know the name of next time.
I did pour these hot and allow them to solidify before PC'ing this time, and there was no change in condensation. The good news is, the only reason it sucks is low visibility.
However, the condensation almost entirely disappeared on my first plates as they colonized more.
Loving agar and having great results so far, thanks much pasty!

I only stack up to 2 outside of the pc. You can fill your pc all the way if you have a later if glass no pours at the bottom. As long as they aren't floating and they go in straight you're good
